A man about 6 feet or so walked in and smiled at us.  He was attractive, I guess, with his dirty blond hair and green eyes.  He was nothing compared to Nolan, though.

“Hi! I’m Aiden.” He smiled brightly.

“It seems as if James is two days older than Brayden, here.” Claudia said and Aiden looked at her in confusion.

“Who’s Brayden?”

“Oh! Brayden is our son.” I said.

“Really?” He asked in surprise.

“Yeah, maybe they’ll be the best of friends!” Claudia said happily.

“Do you have any other kids?” Nolan asked.

“Nope, just James.” Claudia said, smiling at her son. “Do you?”

I shook my head. “Just Brayden.  My mother-in-law is still trying to convince us to have more in the very near future.”

“She is?”  Nolan asked.

“Mine is the same way!” Claudia said.

“She is?” Aiden asked, looking at his wife.

“You obviously don’t know your mother.” Claudia and I said at the same time.

“That’s just freaky.” Aiden muttered under his breath.

“So, Aiden…are you into sports?” Nolan asked.

“Yeah, I played Football and Basketball. What about you?”

“Just Football.”

“Cool”

“Yup.” Nolan said, popping the ‘P’ and looking around.

“So…I think we’re gonna get going.  I’m sure you two have a lot of unpacking to do.” I said standing up.

“Are you sure?” She asked and I nodded.

“Yeah, Bray is getting sleepy.”

“Alright…well do you want to exchange numbers?” She asked and I nodded enthusiastically.

“Yeah!” I grinned

“So what do you think of them?”  I asked later that night after putting Bray down.

“I dunno…”

“Oh come on! He’s nice, she’s great, and our boys are going to be besties for life!”

“Okay, let me stop you right there…we do not call our best friends ‘besties’.”

“Whatever, you know what I mean.”  I said, rolling my eyes.

“I love you.”  He said suddenly.

“No.”

“No what?”  He asked, startled.

“We are not having sex.”

“…Are you psychic or something?”

“Nolan…I’m exhausted, you’re exhausted…how exactly is that romantic?”

“You’re right.” He sighed.  “I have to work tomorrow…and I’m taking an extra shift.”

“Again?” I complained, sitting on the bed.

“Reagan…you know we barely have enough as it is, we need that extra money.” He sighed, kissing the top of my head.

“It’s just…I need you here, helping me.”

“I know…but if we want to live on our own, I need to pick up the extra shifts.”

“I understand…that doesn’t mean that I’m happy about it though.” I pouted.

“Goodnight, I love you.” He said genuinely.

“Love you, too” I said, pulling the covers over me and rolling over.

I’m really sorry for the length…I’m very very sorry, actually.  I will try to upload the next chapter over the weekend.

The next chapter is going to be sped up about two months or so…

So…how was your summer?
