There was a tentative knock at the door and then Nolan walked in cautiously, staying close to the door.
“Regan?” He asked timidly.’
”What?” I snapped.
“I’m really sorry…for whatever I did.”
“Why don’t you want to go to the class?”
“I just…don’t think it’s necessary.”
“Nolan…I am beyond freaked out about giving birth and raising a newborn baby. I’ve never done this before, I’m scared. I just wanted your support, and you aren’t giving me it.”
He raised an eyebrow at me. “You’re freaked out about raising a baby? You practically raised Izzy on your own; I’ve never done anything like that.”
“Raising a two year old is way different than raising a newborn. I’m freaking out here.” I sighed.
“So am I.”
“I have no idea what I’m doing.”
“Me neither.”
“I’m freaked out about giving birth.”
“I…never have to experience that.” He said and I glared at him.
“Lucky.”
“You’ll do fine, Reg.”
“You don’t know that, and I won’t know that until we go to that class.”
He sighed. “…fine. We’ll go.”
“Yay! Thank you!” I squealed, throwing my arms around his neck.
Four months later
Before I knew it, I was a little over eight months pregnant and it was time for Gavin and Alexis’ wedding day. She looked absolutely stunning in her ivory dress. It was gorgeous; the bottom was bunched up, but still had a train. It had a sweetheart neckline that I thought resembled a seashell. The dress was hard to describe, but I loved it.
“I can’t believe you’re finally getting married.” I sighed happily.
“I know.” She beamed.
“You look absolutely gorgeous. He’s going to forget his vows.” Payton grinned.
“You think so?” Alexis asked.
“We know so.” I piped in, shifting my position on the couch.
“How are you feeling? You must be getting impatient to cuddle your baby.”
“I’m alright…just a little uncomfortable.” I said, downplaying how uncomfortable I was. “But don’t worry about me. Today is your day.” I said. “Mom? Can you help me get dressed?” I asked, looking at the turquoise bridesmaid dress. She nodded and helped me up and then grabbed the dress for me.
We went into one of the bathrooms and she handed me the dress. “Thank you.” I sighed.
“How are you?” She asked when I walked out.
“I’m alright.” I shrugged.
“Does he kick a lot?”
“Yeah, but he goes crazy when he hears Nolan’s voice.” I said, rubbing circles on my stomach.
“That’s cute.” She smiled, zipping the back up for me.
“Try painful.” I sighed. “It’s awful when he kicks my bladder…I’m telling you, this kid is going to be a soccer star.” I winced.
