Three weeks have passed since our weekend. Nolan was at work, and I was bored out of my mind, so I brought Bray to mom and dad’s house.
“Hey guys!” I greeted them, walking into the kitchen and putting Bray on the floor.
“Hello.” Mom smiled. “Alexis is coming over.”
“How is she doing?”
“Better. She said that the morning sickness is easing up a little.”
“It’s about time.”
“I know right?”
“Hey guys.” Alexis said, walking into the kitchen.
“Hey, sweetie. How ya feeling?” I asked.
“Eh. It’s like I’m perpetually queasy, but I’ve been able to keep food down.” She said and then chuckled slightly. “Remind me again why I wanted a baby so bad?”
“Because that,” I pointed at her stomach, “will turn into that.” I said, pointing at Brayden who was slapping the floor and giggling..
“He’s so cute.” She smiled.
“Right?” I nodded.
“He looks almost exactly like Nolan did as a baby.” Mom smiled.
Bray picked up something off the ground and stuck if in his mouth. “No, Bray. Bray, no!” I shouted softly, walking over to him and picking him up.
“What happened?” Alexis asked.
“He put something in his mouth.” I said, forcing his mouth open and taking out the penny he was chewing on.
“I’m sorry!” Mom said. “I thought I had picked up everything.”
“It’s fine. He’ll just sit with us.” I said, bouncing him lightly.
“Can I hold him?” Alexis asked.
“Sure.” I nodded, putting Bray on her lap.
“You’re gonna have a cousin, Brayden.” Alexis cooed, bouncing him on her knee.
“So where’s dad?” I asked, rubbing my stomach and wincing slightly.
“Work. Are you okay?” Mom asked and I nodded.
“I’m fine, it’s just cramps.”
“That sucks.” Alexis said sympathetically.
“Right?”
“What time is Gavin getting off?” I asked.
“In about an hour. Nolan?”
“Hour and a half.”

“Hey peeps.” Gavin greeted us, walking into the kitchen and kissing Alexis on the cheek.
“Hey Gav.” I said, taking Brayden from Alexis. “I’m gonna go put him down. I’ll be right back.” I said, taking Brayden up to the guest bedroom that had a crib in it, and put the half asleep baby in it.
I walked downstairs and slumped on the couch.
“Is having a baby really exhausting?” Alexis asked, sitting next to me on the couch.
“Yes. But when you have your own kid…you really don’t care. I would do anything for him, which includes getting up in the middle of the night to change his diaper. Trust me. Everything of that you’re going to go through in the next seven months, and then the months after the baby is born, will be totally worth it.”
