“Hey, Alexis!” I greeted my sister-in-law over the phone.  “How ya feeling?”

“I’m alright, I’m constantly nauseous, but I’m just ignoring it.”

“I know how that feels.  How’s Bray?”

“He’s really, really good.  He’s crawling a lot…and everywhere.”

“Well that’s your future in about a year.” I grinned.

“Regan, get off the phone.” Nolan whined.  “I wanna build a snowman.”

I shot Nolan a playful glare, and then stuck my tongue out at him.  “I gotta go, Nolan wants to play.”

“Have fun playing” She giggled.

“Oh shut up.  He wants to build a snowman, you perv.”  I laughed.

“Mmhmm.  Okay.” She giggled again.  “Bye, sweetie.”  She said, hanging up.

“Can we go now?” Nolan asked impatiently.

“Yes.  Now relax.”

“There’s a ski mountain pretty close to here.  You want to go?”

“Yeah! That sounds fun.”

*

“His eyes are lopsided.”  I said, standing back to observe our snowman.

“So is his mouth.”

“And his nose.”

Nolan looked at me in confusion. “How can his nose be lopsided?”

“I dunno.  It just is.”

“Well…since our snowman is a lost cause, wanna go skiing now?”

“Yeah. Uh…have you ever been skiing?”

He nodded. “We went a lot as kids.”

“Then you can teach me.”

“Good plan.”

*

“So to stop, just bring your skis together.” Nolan instructed me.

“Kay.” I said uncertainly.

“You’ll do fine.”

“I just don’t want to fall on my face.”

He threw his head back and let out a laugh. “You’ll be fine.  You go first, and I’ll go right after.”  He said.  I nodded and turned to face the slope and pushed off.

“Hey! I didn’t fall!” I shouted excitedly, throwing my hands in the air, and then promptly falling forward.

Nolan crouched in front of me, chuckling.  “Are you alright?” He asked, holding his hand out for me to take.

“I’m good.” I said, struggling to stand up with my skis; he picked me up and set me on my feet.  Ah, the benefits of having a strong husband.

“Next time don’t throw your hands in the air.” He chuckled. “Ready to try again?”

“Sure, why not?”  I said and pushed off again.

I made it to the bottom and grinned at Nolan.

“I did it.”

“Sort of.”

“I still made it.”

“Congratulations.”

“Why thank you.”  I grinned. “Can we try a harder slope?”

“No.  You aren’t ready yet.”

“Please?”

“Why don’t we practice on the easier slopes, and then we can work our way up.”

“Kay!” I chirped.

*

“Well…you, uh…made it down.”  Nolan said on the way back.

“No, I fell down the slope.”

“You are gonna be so sore tomorrow.”  He said, snickering slightly.

“Don’t laugh.”

“I’m sorry…it’s just…you should have seen your face when you popped up from the snow.  It was priceless.” He snorted, laughing harder.

“Well I’m glad I could be a source of entertainment for you.”

“Let’s get you home, and I’ll give you a massage.”

“That sounds nice.”  I sighed, closing my eyes and leaning my head against the headrest.

“We’re here.”  He announced, parking the car in the driveway of the cabin.

“I’ll be in the house.”  I said; unbuckling my seatbelt, getting out of the car and walking into the cabin.

“Go change into your robe and lie on your stomach on the bed.” He said.

“Yes sir.”  I mock-saluted.

I walked to the bathroom and did as instructed, and pretty soon, his hands were on my back.

“You should be a masseuse, or something.” I murmured.

“Yeah?”

“Mmhmm.”

“You asleep?”

“Almost.”  I said, and he started kissing my shoulders.  “Well now I’m awake.”  I said, rolling over on my back.  He grinned at me, wriggling his eyebrows suggestively.

*

“Nolan.” I groaned, slapping his shoulder tiredly.

“Hmm?”

“It’s freezing.  Turn on the heater.”

“What time is it?”  He asked and I opened my eyes, squinting at the clock.

“Like…two AM.” I said groggily.

“Go back to sleep.”

“I’m cold.” I whined.

“And I’m sleeping.  Put on some clothes and snuggle closer.” He said.

“Fine.” I sighed, getting out of bed and quickly putting on some sweats and a t-shirt.  I hopped into bed, pulled the blankets tighter around my body and snuggled closer into Nolan’s side. “Aren’t you cold? You have no clothes on either.”

“Shh…I’m sleeping.”  He said, rolling over.  “You should try it.”

“Night.  Love you.” I yawned, closing my eyes and drifting to sleep.

*

“Good morning!” Nolan sang the next morning.

“Go away.” I groaned.

“Aww come on! It snowed last night.”

“But I’m so sore.  I don’t want to move.”

“Where are you sore?”

“Everywhere.”

“Want ice?”

“No.”  I said, putting the pillow over my face.

“Want a massage?”

“Yes.” I said, rolling on my stomach.

His hands dug into my shoulders and I sighed.

“Thank you.”  I mumbled.

“No problem.  Better?”

“A little.”  I said, closing my eyes.

I felt like this chapter ended awkwardly…but I liked writing it (sort of)

Oh well.  Please let me know what you thought, and what you think is going to happen next.  I love suggestions; they inspire me (mostly because I don’t plan chapters)

Thanks!
