The evening arrived upon Berk, just as quick as the morning came. This signalised the gang that they had to bring the Night Fury back to Berk. But Hilda didn't want to go back. Her mind was still all over the place. She had just rode on the back of a Night Fury and it still felt unreal. She wanted to relive that moment, again and again, from dusk till dawn.
But what Hilda didn't know was that surprisingly, the Night Fury felt the same way. She had been a wild dragon for almost all of her life, being very caution around Vikings, trying hard not to be seen by them, fearing of being captured or killed. But now, here she was, bonding with a female Viking. It was indeed weird to her, but for some reason, she actually liked it. She liked being around this feisty, kind Viking. She liked the idea of having a friend.
The gang made their way back to Berk, making their way through a special route to ensure that no one saw the Night Fury. But today was a bit different. They excepted to be a few people still walking about in Berk, not practically no one. Regardless, they didn't think about it too much at the moment and managed to reach the training ground.
"Right, get the Night Fury into her cage and...."
"I know, I know. You don't have to tell me all the time." Hilda interrupted Linda. Linda pretended to look offended, but she understood. She just wanted to annoy her older sister.
Hilda gestured the Night Fury to follow her into the cage. On their way, she grabbed a bucket of fish, possibly prepared by Sterling and placed it in the cage with the Night Fury.
"OK, well... I'll see you tomorrow, then." Hilda said, giving a smile as she was still feeling giddy about what had happened. The Night Fury gave a small growl in response before Hilda pulled up the level, closing the doors of the cage. She sighed before walking up to Alric and Linda.
She then stretched her arms high up. "Man, what a day!" she exclaimed.
"What a day, indeed. I feel like tomorrow we should properly show you the ways of flying." Alric mentioned, giving a glaring stare at Linda.
"I was only trying to help!" Linda defended herself.
"I'm sure you were. But I feel you could have gone about it a bit better." Hilda admitted.
"Well, if you have a better idea for tomorrow, I'll be more than happy to..." Linda was then interrupted by a loud banging sound from behind them. They all got startled by this, causing them to turn around, finding out that the sound was coming from the door of the Night Fury's cage.
"What in Thor's name?!" Linda exclaimed. Hilda ran up to the lever, pulling it down to open it. It wasn't wide open before the Night Fury ran out. She ran around in circles before she went up to Hilda, standing in front of her.
"O...K, then. Are... you OK?" she asked, startled by what had happened. The Night Fury just tilled her head, giving her a happy yelp.
"Ok, that was odd." Linda said. She then leaned over to Alric. "I'll go ahead and tell Hiccup we're back."
"Good call." Alric replied, and with that, Linda headed out of the training ground.
"OK, well, since you are OK, you should go back in." Hilda suggested to the Night Fury, pointing behind her towards the cage. The Night Fury looked behind her, but then looked back at Hilda.
"What? What's wrong?" Hilda asked confusingly. The Night Fury just stared at her.
"Are you afraid of the dark now?" Hilda guessed. "I mean, obviously you wouldn't be. You're a Night Fury. The darkness is like your friend. At least, that's what I remember when..."
Suddenly, the Night Fury placed her head on the palm of Hilda's hand.
Hilda stood there, frozen at this action. She then began to stroke her head, causing her to actually start making a purring sound. Hilda looked at Alric, giving a big grin at him. Alric smiled back, giving a thumbs up. She looked back at the Night Fury, continuing to stroke her head. Once she stopped, it didn't stop the Night Fury from giving Hilda a smile for the first time.
Hilda smiled back, now placing her hand on the side of the dragon. "Don't worry. You won't have to stay in the cage for long." The Night Fury gave a soft growl before making her way into the cage.
Alric walked towards Hilda. "You know that means she trust you now." he said.
Hilda chuckled, grabbing hold of her Night Fury necklace. "Yeah, I figured." She then went up to the lever, pulling it up to close the door. "Goodnight." she said, before giving a quick wave to the Night Fury before the doors completely.
"You know what? I really need to come up with a name for her." she suggested.
Alric nodded. "Yes, you do. That shouldn't be too hard."
"Easier than flying on a dragon?" Hilda mentioned, lightly punching his arm.
He laughed. "Yeah, I guess I may have underplayed that." he admitted.
"Hilda! Alric!" Both turned around to see Martha running down into the training ground.
"Hey, Martha!" Hilda greeted her.
Martha caught her breath before speaking again. "Glad I caught up with you guys. Where's the Night Fury?" Alric pointed towards the cage. "Great. You need to get her out."
Hilda and Alric looked at each other before at her in confusion. "Why's that?" Hilda asked.
"My dad. He's ready to tell Berk about the Night Fury."
