Still A Wild Dragon

"Sweetie, I know you are upset about the Night Furies, but you have to go the Dragon Training."

"But they did nothing! They didn't do anything, and now they are all gone!"

"Hilda..."

"Remember when I said I would train a Night Fury or no dragon at all?"

"Yes, I do. But why? You were joking then."

"Not anymore. I don't want to go to Dragon Training anymore. I want a Night Fury and if they aren't anymore left in the world, then I won't have a dragon at all."

Hilda's head was spinning like crazy as she began to open her eyes. She squinted her eyes for a while before they adjusted to the bright blue sky she was staring at. Her mind was all over the place, not knowing what had happened. One thing was for sure though - she remembered falling down on the flat ground and now, her head was resting on a rock.

She slowly began to sit up, looking around her surroundings. Then, on her right side, she saw a familiar face.

"Alric?" she said quietly. Alric was at the edge of the lake, crouching down, seemingly fishing for Rageous, who was sleeping next to him.

"Hey, Alric!" she shouted this time, but her head began ringing when she did, making her quickly place her hand on her head.

Alric turned and sighed before smiling. "Thank Thor you're OK." he said happily. He got up from his crouching position and walked up to her, kneeling next to her.

"How are you feeling?" he asked, reaching for a water bottle on his side and giving it to Hilda, who graciously took it.

"Apart from the fact my head might explode, I'm good, thanks." she smiled before drinking the water.

"Yeah, well, that's what you get for going into the forest by yourself." he mentioned. Hilda looked at him in confusion once she finished drinking. Then, she remembered everything.

"What happened?" she frantically asked, passing the bottle to Alric. He pointed to the left of her and when she turned, she saw a familiar site - the Night Fury was lying on the ground, still but visibly breathing.

Hilda didn't say a word as she slowly tried to get up. Alric saw this and helped her up. Once on her feet, she nodded her head to him, as a thanks, before walking up to it, being wary of the fact that her head was still pounding. She walked up to the head of the Night Fury and kneeled down. Then, she extended her arm and carefully placed her hand onto its snort. It moved a bit, but didn't seem like it would attack.

"Amazing." she whispered, as she could feel the scales on its face. Memories of her being surrounded by Night Furies when she was young and being able to stroke them flooding back and a single tear came down her face, which she quickly wiped.

"It wasn't easy." Hilda almost jumped, but relaxed when she turned and saw Alric behind her. "But nothing good old Dragon Nip couldn't solve." he grinned.

Hilda chuckled. "Thank you."

"Yeah. You're lucky we found you. Otherwise,... well, you know." he said. Hilda nodded before facing at the passed out Night Fury.

"Can you believe it?" she said quietly, but loud enough that Alric could hear. "Not all of the Night Furies were killed."

"Yeah. I thought I was dreaming." he smiled.

Hilda nodded. "How strong is Rageous?" she asked as she got up.

Alric raised an eyebrow. "Strong enough, I guess."

"Is he strong enough to lift up a dragon?"

Alric's eyes grew when she said that and quickly shook his head. "No, no, no. We are not taking that dragon back to Berk."

"But we have to. We have to help it."

Alric groaned. "Listen, Hilda. I appreciate your enthusiasm. But look what we are dealing with." He pointed at the Night Fury. "Forget the fact that it's a Night Fury. That's a wild dragon. And wild dragons and civilisation do not mix. Rageous and I barely made it out alive fighting this dragon, and now you want to bring it to Berk?!"

Hilda nodded, as if saying that the idea was obvious.

"This is crazy, even for you." he sighed before walking away a distance, facing away from her to get some air from this mad plan.

Hilda looked at Night Fury, still motionless but moving at the same time. She sighed. "I know it's crazy. Same as going into the forest in the first place. But it was worth it. I found a Night Fury! And I'm not going to leave it. It probably was fine being around Vikings before, but now, it's wild so that it can easily defend itself. It's wild because it's the last of its kind."

Alric stayed silent for a bit before turning around and facing her. "And what makes so sure it liked Vikings before? It certainly didn't live in Berk like the others, otherwise we would have found it a long time ago."

"Because it didn't kill me." Hilda answered without hesitation. "It had me pinned down to the ground and could have killed me, but it didn't."

Silence still surrounded the both of them. "Didn't you want me to have a dragon?" Hilda spoke again. "You and whole of Berk asked me, begged me to either train one or even fly Linda's. And I stood my ground because I wanted a Night Fury. Well, there's one there, right here, in front of our eyes! Finally, this is my chance and I am not going to let that go."

Alric let out one, long sigh. "Why do you have to be so stubborn?"

She shrugged her shoulders. "Don't know. And I will never know." she said with a smile.

Alric had the urge to face-palm his face at the insane plan - bringing a wild dragon to Berk, which can cause much destruction, more so than trained dragons and she knows it. However, he would be the first to admit that he admired her determination and that she loves to take risks - even if the risks were obvious.

He sighed, but gave a small smile. "Rageous should be strong enough to pick up the Night Fury."

With those words spoken, Hilda gave a wild smile like a 5 years old before giving Alric a big old hug.

"Thank you, thank you! Thank you so much!" she said excitedly.

Alric chuckled. "No worries. But, can we agree that if this plan goes downhill, I had nothing to do with it?"

Hilda released from her hug and stretched out her arm. "I can guarantee that." she agreed. They both then shook hands.

"We'll let Rageous rest a bit more before we get going. I mean, he did just fought a Night Fury after all." he suggested. Hilda nodded at the idea before kneeling next to the still passed out Night Fury.

"So, do you have any idea what to do when we bring it to Berk?" he asked.

Hilda thought about it, before shaking her head. "Nope, but we're Vikings, so we'll come up with something eventually."

"You are really going to be the death of me one day."
