Beyond Berk

Two weeks had past on the Isle of Berk, with nothing major happening on the island, which was the norm and something the Berkians had become content with. The only major development was the progress of Hilda and Starlight's training.

They were at the forest, at the same place where they've always trained. But today was a bit different - they were training without their friends. It was a day that they'd agreed to take a break from training, but Hilda couldn't rest, especially since her Dragon Rider Trials was getting closer. While they were now able to do the 'climbing on dragon's back while in motion' trick, there was a lot more to learn.

Hilda and Starlight were flying, high up in the trees, as Hilda was preparing herself to do a tricky skill - standing on Starlight's back. She took deep breaths as she brought her feet on her back, slowly raising up from her seat.

"Keep it steady, Starlight." she commanded. She was now crouching, with only the harness preventing her from standing up any further. But that was what she wanted. She may be an impatient person, but she wasn't stupid and taking off the harness was way beyond stupid at her stage.

She could feel the wind blowing in her hair even stronger since she was standing, which she made more scared since she feared she could lose her balance. But by keeping her hands close to Starlight, she was fine and she even managed to enjoy this new point of view of flying.

Then, suddenly, without any warning, Starlight dived down. Hilda screeched as she lost her balance. Luckily, she landed on her back and grabbed hold of the saddle, screaming as Starlight flew down and landed firmly onto the ground.

Hilda's whole body was shaking with fear as she slowly got off Starlight's back, almost feeling like she could faint. She kept her balance next to her dragon, before looking at her with annoyance.

"I told you to keep it steady! What happened?!" she exclaimed.

"That's not her fault." Hilda was surprised to hear another voice, turning her head to see behind her, Martha and Sapphire, her dragon.

"What did you do?" she demanded. Martha gave a smirk as she raised a small object in her hand.

"Dragon call. Can mimic any dragon call, including a Night Fury." she explained as she walked towards them.

Hilda sighed with annoyance. "I could have fallen to my death! Then, whose fault will that be?!"

"That wouldn't happen if you didn't go off training on your own." Now it was Martha's turn to look slightly annoyed. "You were supposed to take a break for today."

"I know, but my Trials is close, and I still got so much to do."

"What did we say about rushing your training?"

"I remember, but...." Hilda sighed as she sat down onto the ground. "I really want to do well. I really want to become a Dragon Rider. I've been stuck on the ground for far too long. I need to know what is it truly feel like to be one."

Martha stood still, listening to Hilda's explanation, when an idea came into her mind.

"Well, you won't know still being on Berk." she said, before walking up to Sapphire.

"Wait, what do you mean?" Hilda asked confusingly, getting up on her feet, now feeling less tense. She saw her climb on Sapphire's back, when she realised what was going on - they were going to fly outside of Berk.

"Whoa, whoa, wait, can...can we do that?" she asked, sounding surprisingly terrified.

"Come on, it's fine. I do this a lot sometimes." Martha assured her, but she was still not convinced.
