"I need to talk to you," Adeen appears in my doorway.
I look over at him and see he has a red cap and a bag in his hand. There's also a grimace on his face.
I sit up and shift my feet making room for him to sit next to me. I feel like I haven't seen him all day.
He sighs as he sits, dropping the bag to the floor. When he looks at me there's a flicker of annoyance.
I don't really know what to make of it, though now I'm on edge, but I still tell myself it's nothing.
When I lean toward him to kiss, Adeen pushes out a small chuckle and shifts his weight, leaning away.
I'm dumbfounded and also a bit embarrassed, I ask him, "why can't I kiss you?"
A unit on his face now he fixes his collar, "because I don't want you to."
What the hell is going on? Why is he being a dick?
I'm taken aback, "What do you mean? What's going on with you?"
I feel and hear the quiver in my voice.
Adeen pinches the bridge of his nose and closes his eyes.
"Look," he says sharply. "My wife is home now, and I love her. Whatever you thought we had between us, it's done."
I jump up from the bed, "what the hell do you mean? Adeen-"
"You stop," he hollers and rises to his feet, towering over me. "Tiana and I have been talking," he's starting to fume, but he lowers his voice. "And at this point, we both agree that I've given you so much. There's no reason for me to give you another god damn thing, you're a fucking leech and I want you out of my house."
I feel like I've just gotten kicked in the ribs. Why would h- how could he do this to me? What the fuck is going on?
"You can't do this, you can't" I cry, tears running.
He nods, devilish smile on his face, "I've packed you this bag, and there's a cab out front waiting for you."
"You can't do this! You can't do this to me!" I'm in shock and these are the only words I can seem to remember.
"This is my house," he says grabbing my arm tightly. "Tiana is my wife. She comes first and if she says you're out? Then guess what, you're fucking out."
Yanking me by the arm out of the room, I try pulling from him but his grip tightens. He drags me down the hall to the top of the stairs.
"Get out!" He barks.
This isn't Adeen. It's as if he's posessed, the veins in his neck are protruding and his eyes look wild.
"You can't, you can't, you can't d-" my repetitive cries are cut short when Adeen throws a hard blow into my face.
"I said leave!" He growls. "I'm done with you!"
The moment my head cracked to the left my ears started to ring and my vision blurs. Adeen is still yelling, but it's muffled and I can't keep focus.
Suddenly there's a shove to my back and wind against my face until I smack against the stairs and tumble down.
Everything goes black.
"Malina."
There's a tingle on my cheek and I feel sticky all over.
"Malina, sweetheart wake up."
A shake on my shoulder jolts me awake and I sit up gasping.
"Oh my god," I pant.
Adeen shifts closer to me and places a hand against my shoulder.
"You're okay," he says softly.
I look around the room to see I'm in his and not my own and that it's still dark out. It feels like a weight is sitting on my pelvis and that I've peed myself. I pull the cover off to see a blood stain underneath me, Adeen notices it the moment I do, but doesn't say a word.
I don't know why, but it upsets me that he does see the mess. He still doesn't say anything, just pulls me into a hug and I break down in tears.
I'm so overwhelmed and I feel disgusting. Theres a layer of sweaty stickiness all over me and my jaws feel tight.
Adeen holds me against him until my cries quiet.
"I'm sorry," I sniffle. "I'll clean this up before it sets in more."
Adeen presses a kiss to my temple, "baby don't even worry about that. Run yourself some warm water and relax in the shower. I'll take care of this."
I gasp, "please no, I- it's bad enough you had to see it."
He cups my face gently in his hand and makes me look at him.
"Malina I wish you understood how much you mean to me... You have no reason to be embarrassed over something you can't control. If it's that you think I'd be grossed out about it, trust me I'm not, I'm a grown man. And all I want is to take care of you and keep you happy. So let me do that, okay?"
On the brink of more tears, I whimper and nod, leaning into him again.
What is going on with me?
"I know you're dealing with a lot baby," he croons. "Hell even your dreams aren't giving you a break and you're crying there too," he wipes a thumb against my wet cheek. "So let me do what I can to put you at a little more ease."
My face wet and my eyes closed I nod again and hold on to him.
I never want to see that dream version of Adeen again.
