Ignored

I spent most of the day going from my room and the kitchen. The sun progressively went down then it was dark. I sat in the living room staring at the moon shine through .

My sister still hadnt turned up and I dont have any way to contact her. It's not like people still have house phones. I groan and throw more popcorn into my mouth.

A faint beeping comes from the front of the house, then I hear the front door open.

I suddenly feel prickles all over me, angry all over again at my sister for leaving me here all day. I dont turn around as the sound of footsteps come toward me, then they are silent.

I expect to hear her lackluster excuse, but it remains silent. Slowly I turn around to see Adeen with one arm pulled back as he rubs his nape. The other hand holds his phone semi-close. The luminescent glow highlights his face as he scans his eyes over the screen.

Feeling a little peeved for being ignored all day, I blurt out at him.

"Where the hell's my sister?"

Adeen perks up in surprise and his eyebrows raise, startled, I suppose he thought he was alone.

His eyes finally rest on mine, his thick eyebrows now pull together, and he's got that stern look again.

Without a word he walks towards me, arms remaining still at his side. Not giving him the upper hand of intimidation, I sit up tall and puff my chest out a little.

"What did you say?" He asks coolly.

I clear my throat in case he has trouble hearing me this time.

"I asked," putting heavy emphasis on it. "Where the hell, is, my, sister?"

He was now touching the back of the sofa and he towered over me.

"First off, Tiana is out like I told you before. Second, you will speak and respect me like I know you have sense to do, I won't tell you again."

Who the hell does this guy think he is?!

"Who the fuck are you talking to like that?!" I nearly yell, jumping to my feet.

Swiftly his hand clasps my shoulder and my muscle is pinched  between his thumb and middle finger.

He squeezes, "sit down," he growls low.

My arm bows beneath the pressure, I try to pull away, slowly compressing back onto the couch.

"Let go of me! What-"

He presses harder and I stifle a cry out, but I still make the face like a stunned, popped child.

Finally he releases me and my hand flies to my shoulder, I glare at him tempted to say something but afraid he'd push in the same exact spot.

My shoulder throbs and his face pulls into a grimace before he speaks.

"It was foolish of Tiana if she has not informed you on my rules." His voice is brisk and his eyes are hard. "I will not tolerate even a tad of disrespect. If I sense you have an attitude, I will not hesitate to teach you a lesson."

"Teach me a lesson?!" I ask bewildered.

"Yes," he barks.

"This isn't some boot camp, you don't get to push me around and treat me like garbage!" I wail.

He straightens his posture, his tone is even, voice calm and his eyes soften.

"If," he raises a finger at me, slows his speech slightly and enunciates more. "I recieve more than a little trouble from you. I will, give you what you deserve. That is my final word."

He quickly spins away from me and walks down the hall to the other side of the house.

I went to bed that night and woke up that morning irate. Thankfully my shoulder wasn't lighting up with pain every few moments anymore.

I got dressed and walked downstairs to finally see my sister in a robe, hair messy and and a wet cloth pressed to her forehead. When she notices me she closes the cabinet door and groans.

I lash out, "where the hell have you been?!"

She looks like shit, like how she used to when she'd sneak in from partying all night.

She sighs heavily, ignoring me.

I'm sick of being ignored, I charge at her and snatch away her cloth.

"Answer me," I speak through clenched teeth.

She scrunches up her face, "back the hell up," she croaks, throat raspy.

God damn it, I dont know why I thought things changed. She's the exact same as she's always been.

"Were you out clubbing or some shit?" I ask accusingly.

"Yeah, and?" She snaps back.

"Well thanks for leaving me all day with your abusive ass husband!" I prevent myself from yelling but boy am I piping hot.

She looks surprised at first, then apathy washes over her.

"I told you he wouldnt put up with your shit," she tsks.

"All I did was ask where you were!" I can't keep myself from yelling now.

Tiana tries shushing me then rolls her eyes. "Let me get dressed, you meet me right here."
