Malina
I killed my sister... I, killed...
The heartbeat in my ears thud.
What the fuck did I do? How did I not realize, I played right into his hands!
My vision blurs from the tears and with my hands bound, I can't wipe my face. I blink a few times hoping to see more clearly. I spot Adeen's bobbing head on the other side of the bed.
I need to to try to untie this while he's distracted. Glancing down, I notice the knots he made along the rope as it wraps around me. I try wriggling my hands around, pulling upwards but it's too tight. The rope constricts, conforming to my wrists as I tug. I have to quit after a while because it starts to burn my skin and I'm overcome with lightheadedness. I lean my head back against the wall and shut my eyes.
Taking long deep breaths I try to decide on my next move... Could try to trip him when he walks by me, when he hits the floor I'll knock the lamp on the nightstand down and try to aim for his head. How would I get the lamp though? I could bump into the table but his head would have to land in just the right spot for that to work.
Let's see. I could run for it... Pfft, that's asking to get caught, I'd have to run past him, hell I'd have to successfully get up on my feet without him noticing. Either way I'd fall straight on my ass or face and get no where, making him even more erratic.
I could just try talking to him... It's a start.
Adeen sighs, hangs his head staring at the carpet.
"Adeen I... I want to say I'm sorry for freaking out and getting upset."
His head perks up and he looks over at me.
I go on, "I got a little overwhelmed and," take a deep breath. "I'm realizing that deep down I did know what was going on and I did try to ignore it all, but I can't anymore..."
Adeen starts to nod, looks back at floor.
"I accept your apology," he sighs, worried. He's silent for a few then looks at me again. "We need to leave, get as close as we can to the Canadian border, stay in a hotel or something until we can get you a passport." He groans, cursing to himself, "why didn't I think to get you one earlier?"
My eyes widen watching him, he's serious. He wants to run away to fucking Canada?! Hell no! I need l-
Adeen abruptly jumps to his feet and rushes past me to the bathroom.
Come on think before it's too late.
I look at him again, he's frantically grabbing toothbrushes, soaps, rags, anything that may have his DNA.
"Let me help, we need to be quick about this," I say.
He continues filling up his arms, slows his pace though, maybe he's thinking about it.
I keep trying, "there's stuff in the room I used that I need to put away."
Now he stops collecting altogether and chuckles once looking down at me.
"You must think you're slick." He chuckles again, "I can't trust you to not run off. You've gone against me already helping Tiana with that fucking pregnancy bullshit."
He's getting riled up again, "how could you think that was a good idea? This mess could have been avoided had you listened to me!"
"I'm sorry, I- I was scared I didn't know what to think, I just did what she asked."
