Adeen

Peering past the curtain at my wife, we connect eyes almost instantly. I'm surprised to see she's awake, all she's done is sleep since being here, rightfully so. I think the only time she really slept at home was if she passed out after binge drinking.

Tiana sits up in the hospital bed as I take a seat in the chair I occupied only hours earlier.

"How'd you sleep?" I ask while simultaneously exhaling. I probably sound more tired than I actually am.

Her hands go to her face, rubbing her eyes. As she does, the loose hospital bracelet slides down her arm.

"I didn't sleep for long after you left... Probably slept too long this morning."

She sighs, flops her hands into her lap and looks at me.

"How are you?" She asks. "Get any sleep?"

I shrug, "can't," I simply say.

She hums once, looks down at the blanket, starts plucking at it.

"I uh, thought you were going home for the night," she chimes.

"The uh, rehab called me," I reply, watching her face.

She nods, never looking at me.

"They told me they would," she says quietly. I got a visit from one of their reps today. I'll be getting picked up bright and early tomorrow at 7am by the Sunnyside Uprising Facility."

"Interesting name choice, don't know how I missed that," I reply.

We share a small chuckle then our minds quickly resort back to the situation.

Tiana groans frustratingly, "this is so fucking stupid that I'm in this situation!"

I try to be somewhat supportive.

"Don't look at it as a bad thing now yo-"

She cuts in sharply, "what do you mean not a bad thing!? I'm being forced to go to some prison!"

I scoff insensitively at her dramatics.

"Tiana, you are not going to prison, or even jail for that matter which is a damn miracle!"

She rolls her eyes, I continue before she tries cutting me off.

"These people are here to help."

"Help!?" She nearly yells in bewilderment. "They're locking me up in some box for 30 days! All because I got in a wreck!"

"You were black out drunk, fighting the police and EMT's!"

"And!? I asked them to leave me be, they refused, I reacted!"

"Things don't work like that! They were doing their jobs Tiana-"

"I asked them to leave me alone and they didn't listen. Don't pretend like this is a happily ever after, maybe it is for you, but I'm stuck in a really shitty situation!"

"Oh and I'm not affected?" I ask.

"Are you being carted off to Nana Land?!"

"No but I will be missing my wife."

Her turn to scoff, "please."

I stare at her a few moments...

"Really Tiana?"

"Really Adeen? You know what... Why don't you just go."

"Wait now-"

"Leave!" She shouts.

I jump from my seat and stare down at her in disbelief.

"This is how you want to do this?"

She nods vigorously, a grin on her face to show how mighty she is.

"Fuck it," I say and storm out of the room.
