Malina

Sasha and I sit on her bed, arms touching, heads tilted back as we exhale smoke.

I'm not even supposed to be here right now, but at the library studying. I couldn't concentrate so I asked Sasha to pick me up. Ever since we've met up she's been asking me in different ways if I'm okay: "Girl wassup?, Are you good? You need to talk? Why you mean muggin? You know I'm here."

Each question I replied, "I'm good Sash," followed by a crack of some irrelevant joke.

My muscles feeling relaxed and my chest finally not burning from the smoke I start to talk.

"Sash, I've got something I need to talk about."

Sasha looks at me, a subtle flash of worry touches her face.

"What's up girl?" Sasha flips the channel to BET and mutes it while the commercials play.

I start to fiddle with my fingers and sigh.

"I don't know if I'm like trippin' but... I think my sister's been cheating on Adeen."

Sasha's eyes bulge slightly as she faces me full on.

"Why you think that?"

Last night I went into their room and Tiana was splayed out on the bed...

Tiana was drunk, she'd been babysitting a tall bottle of liquor in her bathroom and made sure to pay a visit all throughout the day.

Sometime in the middle of her sleep, Tiana reaches for her phone and dials a number, fumbling until the phone reaches her ear.

Meanwhile Malina has just finished her homework and wants to know if she can swindle money from Tiana in her drunk state.

She knocks on the door, Tiana doesnt call out so Malina invites herself in. She sees Tiana on the bed, leg hanging off the side, glass of liquor spilled on the floor.

"Tiana," Malina says.

Tiana only let's out a grunt and a quiet snore.

"Dumb ass," Malina mumbles.

Tiana jostles around, getting comfortable and that's when Malina sees Tiana's phone on the bed, screen lit up on a call.

She reaches for it and puts it to her ear to hear a man's voice.

"Helloooo... Hello?" He says.

I look to Sasha almost in a daze of disbelief.

"It didn't even cross my mind that she would be cheating. I almost hung up because I wasn't going to say anything, but something told me to."

"Hello?" Malina replies.

"There's my girl," the guy sighs happily. "Where you been baby?"

"I- I uh, I said hold on a minute," Malina tries lowering her voice an octave to sound more like Tiana.

The man is beside himself and only wants to get to the nitty gritty of things.

"So," he says. "Where we meeting tonight? I can get us a room at the Hilton, but that's only if you promise to grind that fat ass on this fat cock baby. How's that sound, hm?"

Malina is too shocked to respond, she just stands there blankly.

"Hm, baby? You gonna let daddy fill you up again?"

Dead silence on Malina's part.

"Baby?" He presses.

Remembering to breathe, Malina sucks in a breath and squeaks out an, "mhm."

The guy growls, "say, yes daddy."

Malina hangs up the phone.

Sasha blurts loudly, " the nig-" she cuts herself short.

Sasha's been trying hard not to use that word so much. It's amusing seeing the struggle.

"Oop," she holds up a finger, "my bad. That fool, fucking growled and said say yes, daddy?!"

Sasha dies with laughter doubling over with cackles, whoops and hollers I can't help but cackle next to her.

After the laughter dies down and the room gets quiet again, Sasha asks the serious question.

"Are you going to tell Adeen?"

I don't look at her but I can feel her eyes on me. For a while I don't say anything, then it starts to feel too awkward not to say anything.

I slowly shrug, "I really don't know."

I do know this. Every dirty thought I've had about Adeen, every dinner we went out and had, the drunk night together, that almost kiss, I don't feel the tiniest but of remorse or regret for doing so.

Tiana's getting dicked down, why shouldn't he have a little fun?

Sasha sighs shaking her head, "better shoot your shot then," she jokes. "Cuz lord knows he fine as hell, I'd be all over that ass."

I don't know why, but I skip out on telling that I have in fact been shooting my shot.
