You can't start writing a new chapter if you haven't accepted what's already been written. Every moment you spend fighting and questioning the past, you are pulling yourself out of the present. When you pull yourself out of the present, you are putting the pen down. You stop writing. Starting a new Chapter means that you've accepted your past for what it is and begin looking towards your future accomplishments. Life is like a book. Some chapters are sad, some are happy and some are exciting, but if you never turn the page, you will never know what the next chapter has in store for you. If you've lived long enough, you've had to endure endings of some major eras in your life. These endings may have occurred when you graduated from high school or college, changed jobs or careers, severed a relationship or relocated to a different place. Whatever the circumstances were, you had to bid adieu to an old and familiar way of being. You may have felt sentimental as you said your goodbyes while also feeling anxious about what could be in store for you in your upcoming destination. Many of us find it difficult to move on because of an inability to let go of the way things were. We attempt to cling on to old habits, patterns and relationships, not realizing that it is draining our energy and blocking us from receiving the blessings that awaits us in the future. The best way to learn how to start a new chapter in our lives is to develop a relationship with Christ Jesus. He is the master of new beginnings and self development. The Bible tells us in 2nd Corinthians 5:17, Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. Before I became a Christian, I used to do stuffs that wasn't pleasing neither in the sight of God, or the people around me. I was classified as the bad apple in the family and I started to believe it and I became so accustomed to it that I even start enjoy doing the things I did. My new chapter in my life began in August of 2009 when I met in a bicycle accident. Riding my bike on the street, not knowing that my life was about to be changed for good, I proceeded in the boiling sun. Living in a place where there was nothing but hills, my bike moved faster and faster down the steep hill. Coming around the corner in such speed, I tried to slow down but the break wasn't working good. I knew right there and then that something was about to happen. I felt it before it even happened. My bike lost control around the corner pushing me in the middle of the road; I got hit by a taxi driver. The force of the collision hit me over a wall where there were unprotected construction steels stuck to the ground. I landed almost on top of one of those steels leaving me with just minor bruises. The taxi driver didn't even stop to see if I was dead or alive. It ponders my mind each time I reminisce about it that how didn't I sustained any broken bones, or even how did I missed that steel seen that I landed right next to it, but when God has a purpose for you, he will make the impossible so possible that it looks so easy. I started my new chapter in life when I became a Christian in my early teens, and though it has been a rough journey, I did not give up no matter the situation. When you start a new chapter in your life, challenges will come your way. Barriers will be there trying to hinder you from fulfilling your new life's beginning purpose; building a relationship with Christ will help you to stay focused in your new beginning, and help you to let go of your past situations. Starting a new chapter requires both self and spiritual commitment. You have to be committed to yourself that you are letting go of your past and turning a new page in your life; also to God that you will allow him to direct your path in this new venture of your life and embrace the new beginnings he has in store for you.
