GIA'S POV.

The weekend flew right by. I had a good time with my family though, I always have the best times with them. I haven't spoken to Ricky. He called me 3 times but I never answered. I'm never going back to him EVER.

But the weekend is over and I have work today. I get my lazy ass up and start getting ready.

I do my makeup and put my hair up in a cute sock bun. I have a meeting today so I have to dress a little bit more professional today.

I put on a white muscle shirt, a black half sleeve blazer, blue skinny jeans, and tall black stilettos.

I grab my purse and car keys and drive to work.

Mondays are the worst because they're my busiest and today was definitely my busiest.

I still have 2 hours left so I get some paper work done.

"Gia" the front office accountant Nicole says coming into my office. "Yeah?" I reply keeping my eyes on my paper work. "You have a client" she tells me. I look up and scrunch my eyebrows. "A client? But I don't have anymore clients for today?" I ask somewhat confused.

"He said it's important" she says shrugging her shoulders. "Plus, he gave me a 50" she says with a guilty smile. I laugh. "Okay let him in" I tell her. She nods and walks out.

He's probably one of those snobby, big spenders who thinks they don't need an appointment so I'll put him in his place and see what he wants.

The door opens and I freeze in a state of shock to see who it is.

"What's up baby sister" my older brother Manny aka Trigger says closing the door behind him.

I haven't seen him in 4 years. He moved to New Mexico with family he has over there and his dad. We have different dad's. He couldn't stand Jose so he left. It was also for some drug dealing business for the gang.

So why am I not jumping up and down hugging him?

He's on the list of people I hate. Yeah, another one. He abandoned me. Around the time he left was the hardest time of my life.

And within the 4 years he's been gone, I've only received 3 phone calls. One phone call per year. And they were ONLY about 3 minutes long.

I have a strong hate towards him. But it's always been like that. We've always hated each other. Even before he left.

I expected him to be there for me because of the dick my dad was but he wasn't. He couldn't give two shits about me.

I was 14 and he was 17 when he left. Now he's 21. He looks older. Same bald head, more tattoos everywhere.

He didn't only leave me too. He left his son. Mason. He's 5 now I think. I haven't seen him since he was a baby.

Manny wasn't with his baby momma an he picked up and left so I never saw him again. I don't know about Manny.

"You look happy to see me" he says sarcastically with a smirk as he sits down. "When did you come back?" I ask him. "Saturday, homie had an extra room in his apartment so I moved in" he tells me. I nod.

I'm still in shock plus I wanna punch him in his face.

"How've you been?" He asks leaning forward. "Good" I tell him. "Mom?" He asks. "Fine, still with Jose, but I guess you probably already knew that considering you don't wanna move back home again" I say with attitude.

He rolls his eyes.

"I'm 21, I don't need to move in with mom, besides, I can't stand Jose" he says. "Yeah I know, me either" I say in a 'no shit' type of tone.

"Look, I know you're still mad and you still hate me, but after being away for 4 years and talking to some family, I just realized you're my baby sister and I should've taken care of you, had your back you know? I wanna change that" he says.

I suck in my lips.

"We'll see how it, works out" I tell him. He smiles. "You've always been a hard ass" I smile a 'thank you' smile.

"But that's not the only reason why I'm here" he says immediately changing his attitude. "I don't if you've heard yet, but Gloria is dead" he says. My jaw drops.

Gloria is our gangs ONLY female leader. She has been since she was 13 I think. She was 42. With 4 kids.

"What?? When?!" I ask shocked. This morning. Her body was found by the freeway, stabbed to death" He says. "Damn, does anyone know who did it?" I ask.

"The gang thinks Cypress Park but it can be 18th Street or Sureños" he says. All 3 are enemy gangs.

"Wait so what does that have to do with me?" I ask. He raises his eyebrows. "Well" he starts. "You are, next in line to be the new female leader of our gang" he says. "What?!" I say surprised.

Gloria has been the ONLY female to lead the gang. She was definitely a bad ass boss bitch.

"Why me?" I ask. "Cause of your pops" he says. Even though my dad isn't in my life he's one of the leaders of our gang. There's only 6 OG leaders.

My dad, but they call him Speedy, Manny's dad Fernie even though he lives in New Mexico, Felon, Casper
Sleepy, and Flaco.

"Why him?" I ask. "Whatever he has in the gang, he wants to leave to you, he has other kids, but he wants to leave it to you cause you're the oldest, and the oldest girl, and our generation is here, we're next" he tells me.

Our gang has 3 generations so far. First is my great grandparents era, then my grandparents, then our parents, and now us.

"Why should I do it? So I can end up like Gloria? Fuck that" I tell him shaking my head. It's a different situation Gia, she had no family to back her up, the gang didn't back her up cause of how shady she was and you know that" he says.

That's true.

"Besides, cause of who your dad is, you may not know this but he's always had the gang keep an eye on you, and because of who our family is, you don't have to worry about getting killed" he says.

My family has major respect cause they're killers. They take care of their business. So they have high protection, they're untouchable. Making me untouchable.

"Besides you're not gonna be the only female leader, Stacy Torres is too" he says. I smile. Stacy is one of my BEST friends. "Really?" I ask. "Yeah, Flaco's her pops, the rest of the homies have Boys or girls that are too young" he says.

I sigh. "Alright then" I say. "What time do you get off work?" He asks. "In an hour" I tell him looking at the clock. "Well i'ma be at moms, go visit her, she'll probably be happier to see me than you were" he says as he stands.

I smile. "You're probably right" I reply. "See ya" he says then walks out.

Well that was a lot of shit to deal with all at once.

I'm the gangs new female leader. And so is Stacy. My brothers back. We were never really close. We've always been just like homies you know? Maybe that'll change.

I put on a tough exterior but I'm hoping we can pull together.
