GIA'S POV.
2 days ago me and Manny got a call from my tio Carlos saying my mom got locked up.
I guess her and Jose got into a huge fight that got physical so the neighbors called the cops.
They arrested both of them once they realized Jose was drunk and high and my mom was high. Off heroin.
I had no idea she was doing drugs again.
But nothing about this situation surprises me.
It don't even bother me. I just roll my eyes.
So, my mom called Manny from the LA County Jail and told us to go visit her to talk.
She said she already had her trial. She didn't tell anyone though cause she didn't want anyone to go.
"How much time do you think she got" I ask Manny as we drive to the jail. "We don't even really know if she got jail time they could be releasing her on probation" he tells me.
I roll my eyes.
"Yeah right, she has a record foo, this is just adding an adding to it, she's gonna get some time" I tell her.
He just sighs and purses his lips.
We drive to the jail and when get there and go inside we do the whole little process of seeing an inmate. Like paper work and searches.
"Okay follow me" one of the cops says leading us down a hallway.
"Wait here and a guard will bring the inmate" he says.
We nod and sit at the little bench that has a desk-type looking table and a glass window in front of us.
There's no phones to talk to the person but there's a small circle intercom, microphone thing.
We wait for a cool minute when we see a cop guiding my mom to the table.
My mom is such a beautiful woman. She's one of those super pretty OG chola's.
But her personality has grown ugly.
"Hi mijo" she says to Manny. "Hey mija" she says looking at me.
We give half ass smiles and say hi back.
"So, what happen at the trial" I ask just getting straight to the point.
She sighs and folds her hands on the table looking down.
"I'm gonna be in here for 6 months, then I get released but I have to go to trial again, and if I lose, I get 10 years" she tells us.
"Damn" Manny says shaking his head. "I fucking told you Jose was gonna drag you down with him" I tell her angry.
"Gia" Manny says. "No! It's true mom and you know it, how long? How long have you been doing it" I ask her.
She rubs her tongue on the inside of her cheek and looks away.
"Mom!" I tell her. "Aye! It don't even matter" she says.
"It does to me! You're gonna end up just like my "dad", dead, and for what? For a man that treats you like shit?" I tell her.
"Don't try to fucking tell me what to do and how to act Gia" she tells me.
"Alright Gia calm down" Manny tells me. I look at him then just cross my arms and sit there.
"What happen to Jose" Manny asks. "I have no idea" she says shrugging her shoulders.
"Are you still with him" I ask her. She glares at me. "Yes Gia I am" she says with attitude.
I roll my eyes and shake my head.
"Times up Enriquez" the guard tells my mom. She sighs and stands up.
"Be good out there, I love you both" she tells us.
"Come on" Manny says as we stand up and leave.
Even though I'm not living with my mom anymore, it's gonna be weird to not have her around and not being able to call her you know?
When we get home I go up to my room and my phone starts ringing.
"Hello?" I answer. "Hey babe" Gunner's voice says. "What are you doing?" He asks.
"Nothing just got home" I tell him. "I get off of work at 9 you wanna kick it?" he asks.
"Yeah, yeah okay" I respond. "Alright coo I'll pick you up later" he says. "Okay" I say then hang up.
In the mean time I order pizza, eat, and sleep until I wake up to Anthony's phone call.
"Hello" I say in a sleepy voice. "Hey I'm outside" he says. "Oh alright I'll go outside right now" I tell him.
I get up and go downstairs and outside to Gunner's car.
We drive to a view so we can just smoke and chill.
"So what happened today with your moms?" He asks as he sparks the blunt.
I sigh and lean back against his car.
"She's got 6 months, and once the 6 months are up she goes to trial again and if she looses then she gets 10 years" I tell him.
"Fuck, that's all bad" he says passing me the blunt.
I take a puff and just look out at the view.
I love coming here. You can see all of Los Angeles.
It's relaxing at night time.
It's quiet, besides the wind that's whistling through the bushes and trees.
"I know, she's dumb as fuck, I really thought she stopped doing drugs, and now she's gone, it's like, starting to kind of worry me cause, I just feel like people keep fucking leaving me" I say passing the blunt to him.
"I ain't gonna leave you" He says sweetly wrapping his arm around my neck and pulling me into him.
I smile.
"I don't know that" I reply just to kind of test him. See what his intentions are.
"Well you should" he says standing in front of me and holding my hands.
"No lie you are the most dope female I've ever met, and fucking look at your you're fucking gorgeous and sexy, I ain't gonna throw that away" he tells me sincerely.
I believe him.
"I mean I know we haven't been together that long but, I really do, love you girl" he tells me.
I smile and peck his lips.
"I love you too" I tell him wrapping my arms around his waist and he wraps his arms around my neck.
"How much?" He asks teasingly. I smile.
"To the moon and back" I tell him. "Good, better stay like that" he says.
My everyday life always has a good and a bad. Gunner is my good. My mom, is my bad.
