Chapter 4 - Meeting Petra

We begin walking down the road, side by side, towards the shop. I decided to break the awkward silence by asking her a question.

"So.. why are you wearing such a long robe? It's really hot out."

"E-eh? Oh, it's just that I, um, don't really like the sun." She tugs on her hood to cover up her face.

Was she blushing?

"I see.." We continue walking down the road in silence. Why does this feel so awkward? "Oh, I haven't introduced myself yet! I'm Eren. Eren Jaeger."

She looks up at me. I flinch. God, her eyes are huge! My face begins to turn red as she kept on staring at me.
"U-um..."

"Oh! I'm sorry for staring!" She began flustering. "It's just that.. Your eyes are beautiful. I really like their color." I bet my face was the exact color of a tomato right now.

"T-thanks. Your eyes are beautiful too.." I mumble that last part to myself.

"I'm Petra. Petra Ral. Nice to meet you, Eren!"

Somehow..

This sorta feels like a date.. WAIT WHAT?! Calm down, Eren. You can't be thinking of dirty thoughts now. Godammit, she's so cute. I can't help it. I know! I should start a conversation to make it less.. Weird.

"P-petra, do you live around here?"

"No, I live farther away. I'm just here to visit family, I guess. What about you, Eren?"

"Yeah. My family and I just moved in this town yesterday."

"I see."

"W-where are you headed after this?"

"Oh, I have to hurry home. I wouldn't want my parents to worry."

"How long are you staying here in Maria?"

"Just for a couple days. But I'll come here again for sure."

Petra's POV

Maybe it was my imagination but he seemed a bit jittery back there. I wonder what's wrong? We made eye contact as I was staring at his face.

Ah! I was staring too much!

As soon as our eyes met, I quickly looked away. His eyes are.. really beautiful.

Eren's POV

Moments later, we arrive at the shop. An old lady stood behind the counter. "Welcome. How may I help you?"

"Hello. Um, we need some fabric. Fabric like this." I hold up the edge of Petra's robe.

"Hmm.. This fabric seems to be high quality! And very expensive! My!"

"Really?" Why would Petra have such an expensive robe?

"But don't worry, I actually might have a little bit of this material in the back. Please excuse me."

Petra and I began looking around the shop. There were a bunch of different knick-knacks. I look over at Petra and notice her sighing in front of a glass case.

"What's wrong?" I ask her. She literally jumped.

"It's nothing, really!" She tugged her hood over her head once again. Petra took a quick glance at me then immediately walked over to the opposite side where the jewelry were set.

I look at the glass case that she was sighing at. Inside there was a dazzling ruby pendant shaped like an oval with luxe silver bordering the edges. It was probably super expensive. Did Petra possibly.. want this?
