Chapter 17 - Gray Uniform

Eren's POV

I followed Oluo, who seemed to be a butler or something, up the polished staircase. The outfit he wore seemed very fancy-like; polished black shoes, dark striped trousers, a long black coat, a gray waistcoat with a white shirt and a cravat around his neck. Very butler like indeed. He silently led me across a long velvet hall that had paintings of different sceneries of nature. A horizontal picture of a murky lake in moonlight, a square portrait of a bowl of exotic fruit laying in the forest, and a rather strange picture of the town with trees brushed around the corners. My eyes drifted from one painting to another until Oluo stopped in the middle of the hall. I bumped my forehead into his back and almost fell backwards.

"S-sorry." I said as I rubbed my forehead. He responded by giving me a low grunt and pointing at a door at the end of the hall. "Eh?"

"This will be your room for now." He opened the door and revealed a large room with nicely arranged antique furniture. A cushioned navy couch with silver lining was placed in the middle of the room, along with a small rosewood table. I walked around the room in awe and spotted the crystal lighting that hung above my striped bed with fancy pillows on top. The bed sat in between two glass doors that led to a stone balcony that had a skinny glass table with small wired chairs."Now, that you've seen your room, come with me." Oluo said from behind me as I looked out into the forest.

"Yes." I followed Oluo back into my room and up to a wide mahogany closet. Inside, there were several fancy butler uniforms of different shades of black and gray. "Am I supposed to wear this?"

"Yes, you'll have to do with this for now." He grabbed one of the gray uniforms and a pair of black shoes. "First, take a shower. It's the door to the right." I held the uniform that he selected and walked towards a small door to my right. The bathroom was wide, with a small shower and a giant bathtub that had small scented soaps around the edges.

"Wow.. This is way better than the motel." I muttered to myself as I started to undress. "If only Mikasa and Armin could see this.."

Don't get too into this, Jaeger. Calm down. I know it may seem like heaven already but your still trapped in a house full of vampires. Take a breath. Vampires. Blood sucking fuckers. Don't forget that..

Mikasa's POV

It's almost been another day since Eren's gone missing. The hopes of our comrades have been going down lately. Armin wouldn't concentrate on his training and wouldn't quit stressing about it. Hannes would often file reports from nearby towns while the rest of the group helped out by searching in through the woods. Even the Alpha was starting to get restless. I stood in front of my desk mirror and adjusted my 3DMG gear before locking up my room.

Across my door, stared at what once was Eren's room, he would always greet me with his bright smile and a cheeful 'Good Morning, Mikasa!' Oh how I missed it. My thoughts stopped when I heard Christa call me from down the hall and over to Reiner. As usual, he was flirting with her and occasionally giving her a wink with that huge grin of his. Christa would always be able to tolerate it and often turn him down while Annie would stare into the distance, refusing to take part of their conversations.

"Move out." I said while taking a step towards them. The three of them gave me a slight nod and quickly head out the door. "Eren.."

The sunset made the sky deep orange with purple rays that dissolved into a misty yellow blur as we swung through the trees and over a couple rocky areas. So far, so good, there wasn't any mist or fog covering up the mountains or anything from behind. I scanned our surroundings and glanced back over my shoulder from time to time, just to make sure my squad was right behind me. There was nothing. Not even a whiff of Erens' scent anywhere. Was he truly gone?
