Chapter 14 - Chains and Shackles

Levi's POV

I stood there, clenching my fists on the metal bars, causing them to bend. My breath quivered, my body shook, and the stone floor had cracks due to my strength. How could his blood be so alluring? Eren's blood continued to drip and seep through the cracks on the floor.

Stop. Stop. Stop.

I tried to calm myself down by mentally slapping myself in the face. This kid couldn't have had high quality blood. That's impossible for a Shapeshifter, they're blood is the lowest type.. My head was swirling, and my eyes glowed red. The metal bar of the cage snapped when I pulled my hands off. It left a burning sensation that took me back to reality. Damn, my instincts are taking over me!

After wiping my blood off the scratches on my hands, I flipped my robe and exited through the dungeon entrance. Outside, I met with Erwin, who was walking down the hall.

"Levi, what are you doing?" He asked as he walked up to me.

"Nothing much. Just checking on the mutt." I said in my usual monotone voice.

"Oh, Eren? How is he?"

"Still asleep. Someone treated his wounds though."

"Hm. I'm guessing it was Petra."

"Yeah. So, what are you up to?" I eyed the small test tubes and bottles in his hands.

"Oh, I was just going over to Hanji's lab. I had her do some testing on Eren's blood."

"Testing, huh?"

"Yeah. You must've noticed too, Levi. Eren's blood is high quality." He said in a serious tone.

"It has a strange scent." I replied while looking out the window, watching the birds flutter their wings, yearning for the wind to blow against their feathers.

"Come. Let's see what results Hanji got." He said, while opening the door to the basement. We went down the dark hall, all the way till we reached a large wooden door with old hinges. Erwin knocked loudly and waited for Hanji to open the door. Moments later, the door flung open, revealing a stone room full of weird potions, bubbling liquids, and a bunch of test tubes with books and paper scattered out on the floor. This room was a mess.

"Hello there! So glad you could make it. Ooh, I didn't see you there, Levi." She looked down and peeked from Erwin's side.

"Shut up. What were the results?" I glared at her as we entered the cluttered room.

"Eren's blood is indeed high quality, it's strange for a Shapeshifter to have this type of blood so I did a little more research on it. It seems that Eren's blood isn't all Shapeshifter."

"What?" Erwin said from behind. "Then, what else is he?"

"Hmm, it's hard to figure out but.." Hanji turned around and held up a vial with Eren's blood. I think he might have vampire blood.."

"Huh? That's impossible." I blurted out with my arms crossed.

"Well, when I did some testing, his blood definitely matched as a Shapeshifter because their blood burns, almost like an acid. But then Eren's was special, there was something else mixed into it and it was.. Similar to a vampires.." She twirled the vial in her hand, making the rich blood look even more delectable. I bit my bottom lip and looked away.

"Hm. I would like you to continue testing on Eren and do some more research." Erwin started while walking towards a table with piles of books. "I have a couple of questions I need to ask him. Levi, I'm gonna need your help."

"Hmph. Sure." I replied while glancing back at the vial of blood.

"Okie! Now, let's go get Eren!" Hanji said while dancing out the door.
