Chapter 21 - Halfblood

Annie's POV

"Eren is a vampire." The Alpha said it so blankly that I nearly spaced out. He simply just stated at Eren was a vampire. I wasn't one to jump to conclusions ...but how? How could Eren be a vampire if he's able to shapeshift into a werewolf?

"Sir, how is it possible for Eren to be a vampire and a Shapshifter? Could it be possible that he has-" I was interrupted by Hannes and his quivering voice.

"E-Eren.. He's was a half-blood. We discovered a couple years after we took Eren and Mikasa in that he had vampire blood in him. The first time I noticed was during combat when he was only a child and got injured on his back. His blood was different; it still burned like ours but it was tainted with the scent of a royal pureblood." My mind couldn't accept all this information at once so I blinked and took a step back. The Alpha stayed still with his hands clasped together. Hannes was still hesitant but he continued.

"Secondly, whenever Eren shifted, I noticed not only the unsual glint of gold in his eyes but there was also a flash of crimson. Eren was always the strongest and the fastest among the pack but nobody ever doubted him about that."

"Then it's possible that his unusual amount of speed is due to the vampire blood within his veins?" The Alpha and Hannes nodded while staring down at their feet.

"Yes, his strength and speed together make him an outstanding member of the pack. That's one of the reasons why he was chosen as the next Alpha." How would the pack feel having a vampire as a leader? I'm not sure if all of them would accept Eren that easily...

"I'm sure you guys never noticed since we started giving Eren drugs that covered his pureblood scent that we received from Mr. Ral. He helped us out to hide Eren's existence."

"Wait, so you're saying that Eren used to be half human and half vampire?" Hannes nodded with a grunt. "And then, that day Eren was scarred by a rabid Shapeshifter, it took over part of his human side?"

"Probably. We can only confirm for sure if we have him take a blood test. But we're absolutely sure that Eren is half Shapeshifter and half Pureblood." I closed my eyes and thought back to the information that I gathered. Eren's parents were Carla and Grisha Jaeger. Carla was an ordinary human, I know that much about her. As for Grisha, I've heard he was a very mysterious man. Mikasa told me how he left them that day and never came back or even made contact whatsoever. Grisha was a suspicious person.

"Mikasa wasn't affected, surprisingly. She's just a human with unbelieveable skills with the 3DMG. And I guess that's when she started your group and became known as the Red Blade. We had to hide Eren's existence due to his true identity..." Hannes trailed off and looked down at his feet. I narrowed my eyes at him and saw him catch the Alpha's glance.

"Would you mind telling me Eren's true identity?" My lips curved into a frown when I saw their expressions darken. "It's fine. You don't have to tell me now."

"Sorry, but that's all I'll say for now. We will inform Mikasa later sometime.." The room went silent. I became bored of the tense atmosphere between the two so I decided to take my leave.

"Thank you for sharing this information with me. If you'd please excuse me, I'll be investigating." I saluted and went out the room. As I walked down the halls, entered my room, and hoisted the 3DMG around my waist, I thought about Eren. How was it possible for this to happen? Just who are you Eren? What are you?

Levi's POV

It's been almost three days since that day I saw Eren in the hall. He spent most of his time hanging around Petra and being used in Hanji's experiments. Of course I wouldn't admit it but... it was annoying how Eren and Petra were so close to each other. She's the only one that Eren seemed comfortable around. If I could, I would approach him and maybe even start a conversation but I was never the social type. Talking to others was difficult for me and frustrating at times, when I'm not able to explain what I mean. Hanji used to help me out but I gave up with socializing after that.
