Chapter 23 - Mixed Emotions

Hanji's POV

During todays' checkup, Eren seemed totally fine. Nothing out of order. However, earlier today, Erwin said that Eren was gonna change soon. What about him is going to change? How is he going to "change?" And when exactly was soon? I bombarded him with tons of questions, after all, it's in my nature as a sort of a chemist, even though I'm a witch. It bothered me a bit. I was worried about the kid.

"Erwin, what's gonna happen to him exactly?" I questioned as Erwin stacked a bunch of documents on top of his desk. "Seriously, what's going on?" He shoved the rest of the documents into a large file and placed it in a nearby drawer. I had to clear my throat a couple times to get his attention.

"Yes? Sorry, I've just been busy today with all the new reports to be filed.. Anyways, you were talking about Eren?"

"Tell me what's been going on. I'm sure you've gotten more than enough information already from your scouts." Nobody ever knows what the Fuher thinks about but now there's one thing I've been sure of lately: he has an interest in Eren. Quite a big one.

The Fuher tends to stare at him during his free time and covers it up by saying he was merely "observing" or making sure he isn't planning anything. Even when they converse his mood changes completely. He may just not realize he's having these feelings towards Eren.

"Well, we've got their location. It's a nearby pub downtown. I was thinking of sending my familiars down but I thought of going down there myself..." He crossed his legs in his seat and began humming deep in thought.

"Wait, seriously you're actually thinking of going out again?" I got no response but I continued talking. "But what about the trade?"

"I will keep my promise; I won't hurt anybody there. All I have to do is meet up with their Alpha." He grunted and stood up from his seat to face the dim skies from his wide windows. "I have a few questions concerning Eren."

"Hm, I'm sure Pixis would know more about Eren's past.." Or maybe exactly what he is. "This is interesting. Erwin, take me with you! Maybe I could gather some notes..." He raised his furry brows at me and stood there silently for a minute before responding.

"Fine. Take notes but let me remind you that for now, this mission is private." I nodded back and grinned. After that, I quickly left the room. The Fuher may seem calm while the Eclipse is happening but I'm sure he's having a hard time keeping his cool. Especially around Eren.

"Good evening, Hanji." In front of me stood Oluo, holding a bucket of cleaning supplies.

"Good evening, Oluo. What's up?" I peeked into the bucket and noticed several sponges along with some rubber gloves.

"Nothing much." He spat bitterly. "There's nothing else to do in this castle other than to do chores or care for the Princess..."

"I see. By the way, have you seen Eren? I wanted to go check on him." He gave me a concerning look and sighed.

"Last time I saw him was while walking down the hall, I believe he was entering his Majesty's room..."

"L-L-Levi's room?!" I giggled hysterically and felt a wide grin spread across my face. "Ooh, I guess I shouldn't bother them then..."

"Excuse me? Hanji, your face is getting red..." He frowned once again and pointed out the blood dripping down my nose. "Uh, you should wipe your nose before the scent spreads."

"Huh? Oh, whoops!" I giggled and wiped the tip of my nose with a handkerchief. "It won't matter; none of them would find a witches blood very tasty."

"That's true, I guess." Oluo eventually went back to doing his chores, leaving me by the silent halls.

"Hm, I feel like I should check on him but then at the same time I don't want to disturb their privacy..." I muttered to myself as I began wandering up the staircase. "But then again, who knew Eren could be so daring to walk into Levi's room?!"
