Chapter 13 - Alluring Scent

Eren's POV

Petra?!

I stopped growling as soon as my eyes met hers. Her eyes were glowing red as she stared at me. That made me feel uncomfortable. Even though it was Petra, she was still part of the vampire clan. I have to be careful.

"H-hello, Eren." She took a cautious step closer to me. I bared my fangs and narrowed my eyes at her. "I'm sorry.."

Huh?

"I'm sorry I never told you anything about me.. I was afraid you were gonna hate me.. Well, I guess you do hate me now that you know that I am a vampire.. It can't be helped, right?" She gave a half-smile as she played with her hair.

I stared at her blankly, she walked up to my prison and held up some metal keys. The keys that seemed to be my only chance for freedom. She unlocked the room and slowly entered my cage. Petra was my friend but now I don't know what to think of her. While she was walking closer, I tried to stand up and defend myself but the chains held me back.

The chain around my neck tightened once again and the ones on my legs burned. I whimper and fall back down on my stomach. Petra had a look of concern in her eyes as she watched me breath heavily. She quickly ran for the drawer on the desk and came back with a first aid kit.

"Eren, let me help you." She had her hand out above my head. "I don't want to hurt you, really." I snarled at her and made her jump backwards. Petra seemed kinda scared of me, even though she was a vampire.

"At least let me tend your wounds." Petra gestured to the huge scar on my shoulder. "You can trust me, Eren."

My wounds were still bleeding and my body ached. I was defenseless and had no way to escape. But I wanted to trust Petra, as my friend. She stood still with her hand facing me. I lifted my neck up slowly, and pushed my forehead into her palm.

"Thank you, Eren." She smiled at me as I licked her hand. This was strange for me, being friends with a vampire. But somehow, it was different. Petra sat down by me and treated my wounds by adding gauze. Lastly, she would wrap them up with rolls of bandages.

When she finished, she let out a sigh and leaned on my back. My wounds were healing much faster now that they were covered. I had to thank Petra for that.

Petra's POV

I was a bit worn out after treating Eren's wounds so I leaned against his back. His back was so soft and warm.. It made me want to fall asleep.. As I rested on his back, I felt his breath get softer.

"He's sleeping already." I whispered to myself. "I should get going." Before leaving, I gathered all the first aid materials and placed them back into the kit. Then I noticed some of Eren's blood on my fingers. The scent was sweet.. My eyes glowed even brighter than usual as I took in a deep breath.

T-this is..?!

My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the door opening. There stood Hanji with a lantern and a suitcase.

"Princess? What are you doing here?" She asked me as she walked down the stairs.

"O-oh, I was just checking on him." I stuttered and hid my hands behinds back. "What are you doing, Hanji?"

"Erwin told me make sure he still wasn't conscious."

"Oh ok.."

"I see you treated his wounds. How were you able to get close to him?" She looked over my shoulder and saw the bandages.

"Yeah. W-who knows?"

"Hmm..Well good thing I wasn't Erwin. Or else he would've scolded you."

"That's true." I replied. "I'll be heading back now." She blinked at me as I quickly head for the door.
