~Peggy POV~
That night Peggy was still awake close to midnight when she heard Eliza's soft footsteps on the stairs. Peggy crept downstairs to see what she was doing. Eliza pulled the piano bench up to the window and stared out silently. What was she doing? Peggy briefly considered revealing herself, but before she made up her mind, Eliza's phone dinged. Eliza picked it up and started typing. Peggy decided that there was really no point in watching Eliza anymore, so she quietly climbed the stairs back up to her room and was in bed by the time Eliza came back upstairs.
The next morning it was still snowing, and the school called the day off. Peggy and Angelica were thrilled, but Eliza seemed rather annoyed. Peggy knew her sister didn't like snow days, heck, Eliza wasn't fond of regular weekends either.
While the three were eating breakfast, Angelica suggested going outside, and Peggy agreed, but Eliza wanted to stay in.
"Come on, Eliza, you should come outside," Angelica said.
Eliza shook her head. "No, I'm good Angie."
Peggy tried to convince her to come outside as well, but Eliza refused every time. Finally they gave up and Angie went to change.
Peggy stayed downstairs, where Eliza was playing piano. The thing was, Eliza didn't actually take lessons, she just sat there, thought of a song, and tapped keys until she finished it. Eliza always said that she was terrible at reading music, even though she was in the school band. Peggy knew Eliza preferred singing, and she had a rather decent voice.
Eliza turned around and saw Peggy there.
"Um... what are you doing, Pegs?"
Peggy shrugged. "Nothing.
Eliza turned around and started playing again. Peggy went to her room to put on her snow gear.
~Eliza POV~
While both of her sisters were out in the snow, Eliza retreated up to her room. She turned on the Les Mis album from her phone and flopped down on her bed. 'In My Life' came on, and Eliza sang along to Cosette's part. She only sang when she was alone. Her phone dinged. It was a text from John.
[John: Do you and your sisters want to come down to the baseball park? It's me, Alex, and Laff down here.]
[Eliza: I can't, but I'll ask my sisters if they want to.]
Eliza opened her window and shouted to Angelica and Peggy, "Do you two want to go to the baseball park? John and Laff are there."
"Okay!" Angelica shouted back. Peggy nodded, and Eliza texted John back.
[Eliza: Angelica and Peggy are coming.]
[John: Ok. How about you?]
Eliza thought for a minute.
[Eliza: Fine. I'm coming.]
[John: Ok see you!]
Eliza turned off her phone and stuck it in her pocket. She pulled on her jacket and her boots and joined her sisters.
"Look who joined us," Peggy teased.
Eliza shrugged and crossed her arms across her chest.
"Anyone else there besides John and Laff?" Angelica asked.
"Like who?" Eliza said.
"Alex, maybe?" Angelica said, giving Eliza a mischievous look.
"Um... maybe," Eliza said quietly.
"Sure," Peggy said sarcastically.
"Be quiet," Eliza muttered.
"Since when did you like him?" Angelica asked.
"Longer then you think." Eliza said.
"So... before you met him?" Peggy said.
"What?" Eliza asked.
"You didn't instantly like him?" Peggy said.
"No!" Eliza retorted. "You thought I liked him in fifth grade?"
"Well, that's when he started liking you." Angelica cut in.
"I know that." Eliza said.
"So, when?" Peggy asked.
"Um... sixth grade." Eliza mumbled.
"Okay then." Angelica said.
After that they walked in silence.
