~Eliza POV~
Angelica looked really upset. Eliza crept up to her room to check on her. She put her hand on the doorknob when she heard her older sister crying softly.
Eliza knocked on the door. "Angie?"
"Go away Liza," her sister called back weakly.
Eliza stayed at the door. After a few minutes of waiting she slowly cracked it open. Angelica was kneeling at her bed, sobbing into her sheets.
Eliza sat next to her on the floor. "What happened Angie?" she asked gently.
Angelica wiped her eyes furiously, but tears kept streaming down her cheeks. Her nose had turned red from crying. "Laff thinks I'm cheating on him."
Eliza was shocked. "What?"
Angelica drew in a shaky breath. "He broke up with me. We're through."
"Oh gosh, Angie."
"Yeah," she muttered. "I'm fine though."
Eliza put a gentle hand on her sister's shoulder. "No you're not okay. Should I call for Peggy? She's probably better to talk to about this kind of stuff then I am."
"No, it's fine," Angelica insisted.
"Alright," Eliza relented.
Angelica looked back up at her. "You can leave now."
"Okay," Eliza said, heading for the door.
She left and went back downstairs, where Peggy was doing homework.
"Is Angie okay?" she asked.
"Yeah," Eliza lied.
"She's over the breakup?"
Eliza flinched. "How'd you know?"
Peggy smirked. "Laff told me today."
"Angie didn't cheat on him," Eliza said firmly. It was clear that nothing could change her thought on that.
"I know, but I couldn't convince Laff otherwise when I saw him earlier today," Peggy said.
"Maybe I could slap some sense into him," Eliza suggested, only half joking.
"I doubt that'll do any good," Peggy said. "Just give both of them a few days. We'll see if he changes his mind."
"Well, if he does decide to date Angie again, he'll know that my blessing will be strained. He can't just break her heart without evidence."
"True," Peggy agreed. "I don't know even if I'll let them date again."
"Can we save this conversation for later?" Eliza asked.
"Fine. Also, John seemed a bit mad at Laff for breaking up with Angie. He told me that there was no evidence of Angie cheating."
"That's not really holding this conversation off until later," Eliza noted.
Peggy groaned. "Fine, but what else is there to talk about?"
Eliza shrugged. "I don't know."
Peggy sat back and stretched. "I'm bored now."
Eliza rolled her eyes. "Aren't you doing homework?"
"I was, but I'm taking a break."
"What? We've been home for like twenty minutes at most."
"Oh well," Peggy said. "Why don't you do your homework?"
"I finished mine," Eliza said simply.
"How?" Peggy asked.
"Study hall."
"That's like the most boring period ever," Peggy muttered.
"Not if you get your homework done then," Eliza said.
"Fine. Where's my calculator?"
"In your backpack?" Eliza suggested.
Peggy checked. "Nope."
Eliza lifted up a pillow on the couch. "It's right here, Pegs," she said, giving the calculator to her sister.
The doorbell rung. Eliza opened it and saw Lafayette standing there. She snarled at him.
"What?" she asked harshly.
"Is Angie here?" Laff asked timidly.
"No, she's not." Eliza said, lying again.
"Well, when she gets back will you give her this?"
He handed her a little envelope.
"Fine," Eliza said.
Laff left and Eliza slammed the door behind him. She showed the envelope to Peggy.
"Can I open it?" Peggy pleaded.
Eliza smirked. "No, Pegleg. I'm taking it to Angie."
She went upstairs and slipped the paper under Angelica's door.
"Now we wait and see," Eliza muttered.
"Hopefully sooner then later," Peggy said.
