Chapter 16

~Angelica POV~

Once the Schuylur sisters had gotten back home, Angelica made some hot chocolate and they met by a blazing fireplace. Eliza sat with her back to the fire, while Peggy sat in the wingchair next to the hearth. Angelica sat on the couch facing her two sisters. She handed them their mugs and started questioning Eliza.

"What happened in the woods?"

Eliza sighed. "Why must you two meddle in my love life? Angie, we still haven't found out exactly what happened between you and Laff, and Peggy hasn't told me what happened with John. So, I wont tell you what happened with Alex until I get satisfactory answers from both of you."

"But, Liza, you're still way too innocent-minded, so we want to know how you're handling this relationship thingy thing thing." Peggy said.

"I'm handling it just fine, Pegleg." Eliza said.

"But, still, I don't know why we should tell you." Peggy muttered just loud enough for her two sisters to hear.

Eliza glared at Peggy. "I'm no longer a child and I yearn for the truth that you know."

Angelica groaned. "Stop with the Les Mis stuff, Eliza."

"Ok, what do you want me to tell you?" Eliza asked.

Angelica thought that was a stupid question.

"What happened with Alex, obviously!" Angelica said.

"Jeez, Angie, cool it," Eliza said in a frustrated voice. "I'll tell you, but you two have to promise me detailed answers."

"Fine," Angelica and Peggy said at the same time.

Eliza started. "After Peggy threw water in my face and left to the creek, I was sitting on the bleachers, then Alex and John came. I didn't know why they were there or what they were doing. I didn't ask. John asked me permission to date Peggy, and I approved. That's it."

Peggy rolled her eyes. "No it's not."

Eliza looked down at her lap. "That's all I'm telling you for now. The rest is private."

Angelica knew her sister well enough to know when to stop pressing her. "Fine," she said "I'll give you my answer before Peggy does hers."

Eliza nodded at her to continue.

"When you two went downstairs, I was about to fall asleep when Laff came upstairs. I only told you the partial truth. We did talk a little. Then he told me about the notes because he hid from me at the cafeteria. It was a group dare, and he left a note in my locker, just as Aaron did for Theo, Alex did for Liza, and John did for Peg. I told him that I liked him, and he kissed me. Just on the cheek. Then he left."

"But he did keep his promise on no funny business?" Peggy asked.

Angelica laughed. "Of course he did."

Peggy then told her part of the story. She said what Angelica had seen. John has shown up at the creek and asked her out. Peggy had accepted, of course, and after John had left, they saw Alex and Eliza in the woods by the creek.

"And so here we are." Peggy finished.

Eliza smiled. " Ok then. I'm going to sleep."

Angelica nodded and the three went to bed.
