Chapter 27

~Maria POV~

Maria was at school two days later. She opened her locker and started stuffing books in her backpack.

She felt a tap on her shoulder. Angelica was standing behind Maria, her arms crossed. Peggy leaned against a nearby locker.

"Why'd you kiss Alex?" Angelica asked.

"Um... it was a dare." Maria said.

"You shouldn't have accepted it." Angelica said fiercely.

"Why? Also, why'd you two and Eliza leave?" Maria asked.

Angelica cast her sister a glance. She looked back at Maria. "You don't know?" she asked.

Maria was thoroughly confused. "Know what?"

"Alex and Eliza are, or were, dating." Peggy said.

Maria was shocked. "I didn't know. Is Eliza here?"

"She's in class." Angelica said.

"Oh. Well, can I borrow her at lunch?" Maria said.

Peggy frowned. "I don't think she'll talk to you."

"But she doesn't know it's a dare." Maria noted.

"Maybe. I'll ask her." Angelica said.

"Thanks," Maria said sincerely. "Also, Alex kissed me back. I don't know why. After you three left, we kinda dissipated without talking."

"And that is why I'm gonna punch him." Angelica said. "Oh, and also, who dared you?"

"Thomas," Maria answered.

"Adding to the list of people I gotta punch." Angelica muttered.

"Go ahead," Maria said. "I feel horrible about it."

Angelica smiled. "With pleasure."

The bell rang for their next class.

"Everyone's in the next class." Peggy said. "You gonna beat them up then, Angie?" she asked.

"Maybe, but Liza's gonna be there. She wouldn't let me." Angelica said.

"Well, lets go." Maria said.

~Angelica POV~

The next class was Science.

In class, Angelica sat next to Eliza, while Peggy sat next to Alex. Maria sat in the back. Eliza was sandwiched between Angelica and Hercules Mulligan, who sat next to Thomas on the other side.

Before the teacher came in, Angelica walked up to Thomas and started berating him.

"What were you thinking!" she yelled at him. "You dared Maria to kiss Alex!"

"Yeah, so what?" he said.

"Did you think about Eliza?" Angelica shouted. Her sister hadn't arrived yet, and neither had Alex.

"Oh," Thomas said, looking remorseful. "I didn't." he admitted.

"Yeah, you didn't. And you gave her a broken heart." Angelica said bitterly. "And what's worse, Alex kissed her back."

"He did?" Thomas asked.

Angelica rolled her eyes. "Yeah, he did."

Angelica pushed him away, almost making him fall backwards into a bookshelf. She turned away as Alex walked in with Eliza following.

Angelica hit him in the stomach, and before she could start yelling, Eliza grabbed her wrists.

"Stop Angie!" she said.

"Why?" Angelica asked harshly.

"Just don't." Eliza said, her voice cracking slightly, then sat down in her seat.

Angelica settled for glaring daggers at Alex before joining Eliza.

"Why wouldn't you let me hurt him?" Angelica asked.

"Why would I?" Eliza said.

Angelica couldn't think of an answer. Class started before she could respond.
