"So where are we meeting him?" Jennifer asked. They were sitting in the taxi side by side. Lana had picked Jennifer up at her hotel room.
"His apartment," Lana said.
"What? Seriously?" Jennifer said in horror. "Does he know I am coming?" Jennifer continued. Lana bit her lip
"No I didn't tell him."
"Lana!"
"Maybe this is stupid...what am I even gonna say to him?" Lana questioned.
"I am sure you will find the words when you see him," Jennifer tried to encourage her friend.
"I just don't really know what I want. If I tell him I miss him and want him back what good will come from that? We would just be in the same position as before, as he doesn't want to leave Vancouver," Lana explained.
"Long distance relationships aren't great, but you could try it. Distance is better than nothing at all," Jennifer said.
"I guess..." Lana thought about it. She loved L.A. It had been her home for years and she had family there. It was the best of both worlds as she could still work, but she was also able to spend time with her family.
"Have you considered living in Vancouver with him?" Jennifer asked. Just when she was about to answer the taxi stopped in front of a bunch on condos. They looked like small skinny houses. "These are so cute!" Jennifer exclaimed. Her and Lana stood in front of the building. "Let's go," Jennifer started to walk.
"I am really nervous," Lana admitted. Jennifer grabbed her hand and squeezed it.
"You got this!" Jennifer said. Lana stepped up to the door and knocked. Both of them stared at the door waiting for Fred.
"He knows we are coming right?" Jennifer joked.
"Yeah he is the one who suggested the time and place," Lana said. "Should I text him?" She asked. Jennifer looked around his doorway for a doorbell, but she couldn't see one.
"Maybe try knocking first," she suggested. Lana was about to knock on the door, but suddenly it opened inwards.
"Sorry for taking so long, come on in," Fred smiled.
"Thanks," Lana said staring at him. Jennifer could tell that she was still in love with him. She watched as Lana entered his place. Lana looked like she could handle herself. Maybe Jennifer should leave. It would be awkward for her to stay and listen to whatever they were gonna talk about. She was about to open her mouth to tell Lana that she was gonna leave, but Lana grabbed her hand and pulled her into Fred's condo as if she could hear Jennifer's thoughts. She guessed that Lana wanted her to stay with her.Since Jennifer was out with Lana, Colin and Evan were going to have a guys day. Colin was going to take him to the Capilano suspension bridge.
"Do you wanna come with us?" Evan asked Daniel. Colin was picking Evan up from Evie and Daniel's hotel room.
"I think Evie and I are gonna go sight seeing," He replied.
"It's ok D you can you with them," Evie said. Daniel and Colin hardly ever talked to each other. This was the perfect opportunity for them to become closer. Maybe one day Evie would be getting a ring too and she wanted Colin to be close with her future fiancé.
"Are you sure?" Daniel asked. Evie loved how Daniel was always so kind and understanding towards her. He always asked her what she wanted, apologized when necessary and asked her for permission to do things. These were also all of the reasons why she had fallen for him in high school.
"Yeah totally. Maybe I will go meet Bex and Emilie," Evie said.
"Sounds good. I will see you later," Daniel brushed his lips against hers and headed out the door with Colin and Evan.Evie took out her phone and scrolled through her contacts. She clicked on Jared's contact her finger hovering over his number. Should she call him? What if he got the wrong idea? Also why did she just lie to Daniel? There was nothing to hide, her and Jared were just friends. After she stared at her screen for awhile she finally gave in. She clicked his phone number and waited as her phone made a low humming noise.
"Evie?" As soon as she heard his voice she found herself smiling.
"Hey Jared, I was wondering if you wanna go out for coffee or something today," Evie said.
"Ok sure. Where are you staying I can pick you up," he offered. Evie told him where she was staying and in no time he called her telling him that he was at the front."So where are we going?" Evie asked.
"It's a surprise," Jared smirked.
"It's so weird seeing you drive!" Evie laughed.
"I am all grown up now," Jared smiled. He sure was... The once awkward teenage boy was now gone. He was replaced by a confident and well slightly handsome man. Evie bit her lip hard. She quickly released her jaw as she was scared she would leave a mark. She needed to stop these thoughts right now. She had a boyfriend. A boyfriend who was caring, sweet and loving, who she loved him.Jared parked the car and they both walked into a small cafe. They sat down at a square two person table and a waitress poured them each a mug full of coffee. "So what's the story between you and Daniel?" Jared asked. Evie could feel her body shiver at the mention of Daniel.
"He was actually my first crush," Evie said. Jared clenched his jaw grinding his teeth against each other. Evie had been his first crush. "He actually turned me down in high school, and then we found each other again," Evie said.
"Cool," was all Jared could say. He still liked her even after all of these years. Jared had dated a bit in collage, but no one really serious. He hadn't even thought about Evie in ages until Colin can called saying that he was organizing a surprise proposal. "So Jennifer and Colin are engaged now. Looks like our OTP worked out after all," Jared changed the subject.
"Yeah I know right. After everything they've been through they finally get their happy ending," Evie said. Jared and Evie talked for hours. It was as if they were back on set medaling around with Jennifer and Colin's love life. Even though they had both grown up and they each had their own lives they were still able to connect with each other. Evie continued to tease Jared, but he didn't mind one bit. He had really missed spending time with her and he wanted to continue to see her. Just being in her presence made his heart leap. She made him carefree and stress free. She was always so encouraging. Jared felt like he could accomplish anything as long she was there by his side.
"So when do you leave?" Jared asked as they walked out of the cafe.
"In a couple of days," Evie said.
"I've missed you a lot. I wish you could stay longer," he took her hand in his. Before Evie could comprehend what was going on she felt his lips press against hers.
