"Evie!" Jared bounced up and down waving his arms above his head. A smile formed across Evie's face even though he was embarrassing her. He was just so cute that she didn't want him to stop.
"Go on, we will meet you at the hotel," Jennifer pushed her towards Jared. Everyone watched as Evie stumbled towards Jared and gave him a big hug.
"I bet you that they will get together before the wedding," Colin whispered in Jennifer's ear.
"I bet after the wedding," Jennifer smiled.
"What are we betting for?" Colin raised an eyebrow.
"How about whoever wins gets to pick our honeymoon," Jennifer smirked.
"Deal!" Colin pulled her into him and gave her a kiss to seal the deal. Jennifer hadn't told or asked Colin yet, but she had already booked a resort to Palm Springs and Lana had volunteered to take care of Evan. Her and Colin deserved a relaxing getaway. She better win this bet because she needed her relaxing getaway. It was already late afternoon by the time they arrived at their hotel room. Evan stayed in the lobby with Hugo and Oliver playing card games while Jennifer and Colin dropped their bags off in their room. As soon as Jennifer creaked open the door Colin flung himself onto one of the queen sized beds. A puff of air escaped the mattress that was dressed in spotless egg shell sheets."Babe we gotta get going. Don't get to comfortable," Jennifer sat on the bed next to him.
"Lie down next to me," Colin patted her knee.
"We have a meal sampling in twenty minutes, a cake testing at five and we need to meet the florist at six thirty," Jennifer told him the schedule for the day.
"Why did we get here so early if we can do everything in one day?" Colin questioned.
"We aren't doing everything in one day we still have to meet with the lighting people, the decoration company, the DJ-"
"Ok, ok I got it," Colin pulled Jennifer down towards him so that she was lying next to him on the bed. He wrapped his arms around her and kissed her cheek. "I love you so much," Colin moved closer to her making their legs tangle together. He clasped his hand behind her head and slowly brought his lips to hers. His body pressed against her as she slid her tongue between his lips. Jennifer ran her fingers through his long hair. He really needed to get a haircut before the wedding.
"We need to get going," Jennifer pulled away from him.
"Just a bit longer," Colin frowned.
"Don't worry I am sure we can make up for this on our honeymoon," She smirked.
"That's so far away!" He groaned.
"We are going to be late!" Jennifer grabbed his hand and tried to pull him up from the bed.
"Uhhh ok fine. Let's go," he stood up from the bed still holding onto Jennifer's hand.
"I love you," Jennifer gave him a quick kiss before they exited their room. They headed to the lobby to meet up with their friends. When they arrived Ginny, Josh, Lana, their parents, Julia, and the kids were all waiting for them. Jennifer looked around for Evie and Jared, but it seemed like they still hadn't arrived. Evie was the one who had set up the food testing, so Jennifer hoped that she was still coming. Evie had given Jennifer the confirmation and all of the details, but it would be nice if she was there just in case there was some sort of miscommunication. Also Colin needed his best women at the tasting. Jennifer had three out of her six bridesmaids and her parents with her whereas Colin only had his parents, Evie and Josh. Jennifer felt bad that Colin hardly had any people on his side of the church at the moment. Luckily all of his groomsmen and Jennifer's other three bridesmaids would be arriving in Vancouver in a couple of days for the bachelor parties. Lana and Ginny were planning hers and they wouldn't let even a peep out when Jennifer asked them about it.
Just as everyone was filing into cars for the food testing Jennifer got a text from Evie saying that her and Jared stopped off at a diner for a quick lunch and would meet them at the caterer's place. Jennifer and Colin had rented two vans to charter everyone around. Colin drove one while Josh drove the other. The drive to the caterer's kitchen wasn't long. Jennifer barley got to finish her convocation with Ginny, as they had already arrived. The place was pretty much a warehouse turned into an enormous kitchen. There was what seemed to be one walk in freezer and one walk in fridge. Therefore, there wasn't much sitting room as kitchen appliances and utensils were everywhere. Off to the side was a small round table with six chairs squished around it.
"I'm so sorry, but normally only the bride, groom and sometimes their parents come for tastings, so there isn't much space," the chef eyed Jennifer and Colin's entourage.
"It's ok they can stand and share the food," Jennifer gave him a camera ready smile. The first item that was presented to them was diced raw salmon and tuna on a small porcelain spoon. It looked lovely and tasted amazing, but it just seemed really small. The second appetizer option was a kale salad. It came in a pleasing small white bowl and was plated gorgeously, but it tasted exactly like the salad that Jennifer always bought from Costco. The third and last appetizer option was a single crap cake. The lonely deep fried ball came on an enormous plate with swirls of orange sauce painted all around the plate. It looked pretty and the crab cake tasted alright, but again it was so tiny.
"Sorry I'm late!" Evie and Jared came bursting into the door. "We kinda got lost on the way," Evie ran to Jennifer's side.
"It's ok we are just starting the main dishes," Jennifer said. The first dish out was a seafood linguine. Jennifer used her fork to pick through the pasta and was stunned that there was hardly any seafood in it. Three mini prawns, two clams and a couple sticks of fake lobster swam in the pooling cream sauce that was also way to heavy. The next dish was a veggie Shepard's pie. Jennifer dug her fork in hoping it would be better than the pasta. When her fork pierced the crust it made a pleasing crumbling sound which seemed like a good sign, but the filling was way to spicy. Her entire mouth was on fire. Luckily she gulped down some water to ease the discomfort. The last dish was the steak. The dish once again didn't satisfy her as if was way too tough.
"Thank you so much! The food all looked so lovely. We will be in touch," Evie shook the chef's hand.
"We aren't gonna a really hire this guy right?" Colin whispered in Jennifer's ear. She smiled as she was glad that he shared her same thoughts about the food.
"Yeah nope," She whispered back.
"Well that one wasn't a success, but I have three other options," Evie announced to the group.
"I don't really know if hiring a chef is a good idea anymore," Jennifer said.
"What do you mean?" Evie asked confused.
"I fell like we should have something more casual," she thought out loud.
"Yeah that's a good idea. Whenever we go to events in LA the food is always so fancy, but it tastes horrible," Colin said. If they choose something out of ordinary their wedding would defiantly stand out.
"It would be awesome if we could have fried chicken," Colin said almost drooling at the heavenly thought of crunchy golden crust and stringy white meat.
"Oh my gosh fried chicken would be perfect!" Jennifer agreed. Evie looked at Jennifer and Colin as if they had just offended her.
"Are you sure? This was just the first caterer," Evie stuttered still horrified by their decision to have the ultimate comfort food for their wedding. She had thought that they wanted to have an elegant wedding. Fried chicken was out of the ordinary, but she wondered what the media who was coming to the wedding would think.
"Thank you so much for planning everything, but I think we are gonna go with fried chicken," Jennifer put her hand on Evie's shoulder.
"But what about the vegetarian people? You guys are hosting so many celebrities and they all have so many dietary needs. I don't think fried chicken will fly with them," Evie argued. Colin nodded his head in agreement. Evie did have a point a lot of Jennifer and his friends were on very strict diets.
"How about we also get mini sliders? We could have veggie burgers, turkey burgers and we could also get fish sticks and different types of fries," Jennifer suggested.
"I think that could be arranged. I saw sliders on the website of the next caterer we are going to visit," Evie smiled. Jennifer was content that they had found a happy medium. This wedding wasn't just about Jennifer and Colin it was also for all of their friends who had helped them and supported them over the years. If it weren't for their friends they probably wouldn't even be together.Hope you enjoyed the chapter. Please vote and comment what you thought.
