As soon as they walked into the wedding dress boutique the staff cheerfully welcomed them and handed each of the girls a glass of bubbling champagne. "So what do you see yourself wearing on your wedding day?" A petite red haired consultant asked. Jennifer took a long sip of her champagne to gather her thoughts.
"I'm not really sure what I want. I think A-line would be nice, but I am really open to anything," Jennifer said.
"Ok that's great! Since your wedding is in a couple of weeks we won't have much time for alterations. Therefore, maybe we can find a sample sale dress," the lady suggested.
        "Sure, sounds good," Jennifer smiled.
"Why don't you go to the dressing room and undress. There is a lovely silk robe in there. I will meet you there in a bit with a few dresses," the lady then disappeared into the many racks on the store floor. Jennifer followed her instructions, she waved goodbye to her friends and went into dressing room number 8. Just as the lady said a white robe that said bride in big pink letters on the back was waiting for her on a hanger. Jennifer slipped off her clothes and wrapped the robe around her. Just as she was tying her robe the consultant knocked on the fitting room door.
"Come in," Jennifer sang. The lady opened the door juggling three dresses in her hands. She hung them up each up on a hook.
"What do you think?" The lady asked.   Jennifer studied each of the dresses in front of her. They were all so different. One was a huge glittering ball gown with lace and tons of jewels and flowers. The one on the left was a mermaid style dress with a small poof of organza on the bottom. The one in the middle was a-line with a plunging neckline. "Which one do you want to try on?" The lady asked. The ball gown seemed too extravagant she would never wear something like that. The a line one was nice, but it had a lace bodice with jewels. Jennifer didn't want something too flashy.
"That one," Jennifer pointed to the mermaid dress. It was the best option out of the three dresses. The consultant helped her into the dress and then pinned her in. Both of them then exited the changing room to show Jennifer's friends the dress.
"Oo pretty," Rose was the first to speak. Jennifer stepped up onto the round stage and looked in the mirror. It wasn't bad. Jennifer had never considered a mermaid style dress before. However, the more she looked at the dress the more she hated it. There was no hiding anything in a skin tight dress. Maybe if she was 30 she would have chosen this dress in a heartbeat, but the confining dress seemed to highlight parts of her body Jennifer hated. Her hips seemed to big and her stomach seemed bulgy. She also didn't like how it was sleeveless. Her entire chest and shoulders were exposed. When she looked in the mirror she felt oddly self conscious. When her and Colin started to date Jennifer's healthy diet and workout routine slowly started to become less strenuous. She started to stop caring about what she looked like all the time because she didn't feel the need to impress anyone. She wasn't going to be stepping into the spotlight anytime soon, so there was no need to maintain the perfect Hollywood body. Her and Colin always tried to eat healthy, but it was more for Evan's benefit. Neither of them were trying to maintain a certain body shape, so they were never afraid to have a cheat day. Also she had no motivation or time to work out. Every year she tried to make a resolution to begin going to the gym again, but every year she failed.
"So do you like it?" Evie asked.
"Not really," Jennifer scrunched her nose.
"It's ok this is only the first dress. Shopping for the perfect wedding dress isn't easy," the consultant said ushering her back to the fitting room.

The next dress Jennifer tried on was the a line dress. She immediately fell in love with the way the skirt fell. The lace and the sparkles surprisingly didn't seem to bug her. The only thing she hated was the deep neckline. She used to love wearing plunging necklines when she was younger, but now it felt too scandalous and uncomfortable. She didn't want to show of her body. The dress was sleeveless and just like the other dress she didn't like how it displayed her bare chest and shoulders. Her friends seemed to like this dress a lot. They said it suited her well, but Jennifer wasn't ready to say yes to the dress. "Do you want to try on the ball grown?" the lady asked.
"Oh I don't know," Jennifer frowned. She knew she would hate it.
       "Ball gown?" Lana questioned.
"You gotta try it on!" Rose said.
"Yes I want to see it too," Julia agreed.
"Ok I will try it on for you guys," Jennifer gave in.
As soon as Jennifer walked out of the change room everyone oooed and awed. Jennifer had to admit it did look pretty amazing on her.
"I think this is the best one so far!" Evie piped up. Jennifer giggled at her remark.
"Yeah, but it's not me. It's won't fit the theme of the wedding," Jennifer explained.

Jennifer tried on a couple more dresses, but they all seemed wrong. There was always some sort of imperfection. Maybe she was just being too picky. She sat on the change room stool waiting for the consultant to return with more dresses. When she arrived she had five more dresses in her hands. Once again she displayed all of the dresses on the hook.
"Your friend Evie picked this one out," the lady said placing the last dress on a hook. At first glance the dress seemed to be really conservative. It had long sleeves and the neckline was covered in mesh. The whole dress was covered in what seemed to resemble leaves. Jennifer decided to try it on first since Evie had chosen it. Jennifer slipped into the flowing dress and it fit her perfectly, it was the perfect size. When she stepped out of the change room all of her friends were silent. Jennifer looked into the mirror and a smile grew across her face. The dress was so elegant. She loved the sleeves so much and the mesh covered her chest. She looked like a princess, but she never felt so much like herself. She had spent years wearing formal dresses and had never felt this way. This dress was truly magical.
"This is the one!" Jennifer announced.

Hope you enjoyed the chapter! Here are some of the dresses that Jennifer tried on. The last one was the one she choose.
