I thought a moment. I knew what I wanted to say, but wasn't sure if the timing was right. I took a deep breath, looked down and smiled into my lap.
"You."
Shawn let a confused look fall across his face.
"How so?"
I shrugged my shoulders.
"Well for starters you're not the leader of your crew like I always thought," at that he smiled, "and secondly you're not all that tough and cocky as I thought."
He turned his full body towards me and I slid back on the bed just a little. Personal space.
"First off, you ALWAYS think of me,?" He watched me blush as he batted his eye lashes.
"You wish buddy!" I felt myself reach out and slap his shoulder.
He laughed. "Okay ! Just checking."
I smiled back arms folded in defiance.
"Well, you're right about one thing. I'm not the leader but I am tough and cocky." He winked and my heart leapt a little.
I rolled my eyes. "Whatever you say there big guy."
"And that's another thing," he rolled up his sleeve past his visible biceps, "I'm huge." He stuck out his tongue and I couldn't help but laugh at the way he mocked the jock race.
"Okay, let's get down to work then, start spitting out names of people."
He furrowed his brow and rested his chin on his folded hands. I started thinking but a moment past and he was still looking at me. I felt his eyes scanning my face and I felt myself grow incredibly insecure.
I slowly looked up at him. "Yes?"
He sat up. "I don't know what Daemon was talking about."
I didn't dare acknowledge the fact I knew exactly what he was talking about, that being the fact that Daemon had labeled me as unattractive and Shawn was now disagreeing, so I decided to let it slide.
"Well come on, if you want to get to this party, we better finish." I coughed and motioned to the paper beside us.
"You mean WE."
"Excuse me?" I asked sarcastically. What reason did I even have to go.
"You should come. Keep me company?" He made the most ridiculous pouty face at me and I couldn't help but smile as I turned away and took the paper and pen on the bed and began to try to write some info down.
"Not my scene. Plus, those aren't my friends and they kinda hate me so why would I go?"
Suddenly Shawn was on the floor laughing and clutching his sides. I kicked at his legs begging him to stop. He sat up with tears of laughter in his eyes.
"You think they hate you?"
I shrugged again. "Well ya I mean Daemon-"
"Daemon, is scared of you. Well not scared really just upset that you're the only girl in the school who doesn't give a crap about what he does, what he says, or how he acts."
I sat up a little straighter. "You mean he respects me?"
Shawn grinned. "You could say."
I snickered at the thought of over powering Daemon in social situations.
"Wish I had been made aware of this before today."
Shawn shook his head as he also grabbed some paper and wrote a single word on it.
"You handled him well but just ignore him. He doesn't know what he's talking about."
My curiosity levels rose. "Why am I getting a vide that you don't like this kid?"
"Long story," he glanced at the clock on the wall, "one you can hear later. It's dinner time." He rose and opened the door for me.
"Are you sure?" I asked as is followed him into the hall. "I wouldn't want to impose."
"Nonsense, mom cooks enough for everyone plus friends. There's usually someone over." We walked down the stairs and through their living room.
"If you're sure." As much as I wanted to deny it, I was having a good time with Shawn and his family seemed nice. He seemed like he was a real guy after he'd shown he had a heart on the walk and that he valued people.
"Oh and to disagree with your notion that IM the most misjudged," he slowed as we made out way to the set table, "I think it's you."
