I washed the thoughts of doubt away with splashes of cool water on my face. The droplets formed beads and slid down my cheeks into the sink as I reached for a towel.
I dried my face quickly and rushed out if the room to find some clothes to wear for today.
Swinging open my closet I let out an exasperated sigh.
"I have nothing at all." I mumbled as is tatted sorting through the options.
After a half hour of rummaging, I settled on my black skinnies. Yes that's all I had picked out in a span of thirty minutes. I'm indecisive when it comes to clothes.
I shook off my pants an slipped into the jeans letting them hug my non existent curves snugly.
I turned and looked at myself in my mirror on my door. I ran my hands over my flat stomach and slipped them across my shoulders hugging myself.
"I've got a feeling he's an arse boy," I laughed at myself. "And look he's got nothing to grasp."
I shook my head as I grabbed my brown boots and slipped them on over my knit socks, when the door bell rang and my phone buzzed.
I snatched it off the bed and answered it.
Shawn.
"Hey you ready?" He asked and it sounded like he was outside.
"For what?" I asked pulling a plain tee over my head and stumbling down the stairs.
"I'm here to get you for ice cream with Aaliyah" crap. "Remember?"
"Hi, Astrid!" I heard a little voice in the background.
"Hey!" I looked out my window to see the two of them standing in the porch. "And yeah I guess I'm ready I look awful but then again after last night.."
I heard him cough nervously. "Shhh PG love."
I laughed at his concern for his sisters ears as I bounded down the stairs and out the door.
I hung up the phone as we met eyes and I immediately had an irrepressible urge to plant my lips on his but resisted.
He was standing there his dark jeans and black sneakers on with a big blue sweater on. He looked exhausted but he still had the same smile on that I had left him with last night. He looked so huggable and I wanted to not only kiss him but spend the day in his arms.
He looked up and his lips parted and I knew he was having the same thoughts.
"Hi." His eyes smiled and I felt my cheeks grow hot as the cold smacked my face, but I didn't notice. I was lost in the moment.
"Hey." I moved towards him slowly and he backed up.
What?
"Astrid!" Aaliyah bonded out from behind Shawn and wrapped her arms around my waist. I hugged her back and couldn't help but smile at her enthusiasm.
"Hey! Happy belated again." I said as she pulled back and we all Walked off the porch and down the drive way.
"Thanks," she smile and turned to face Shawn who was now beside and I could feel his breath on my cheek which me at he was looking at me.
"Shawn, can I go see if Jenna is ready?" She pointed to a house at the end of the road.
He nodded. "Sure, we will wait for you two out front."
She took off in a run towards the house, leaving Shawn and I alone.
We walked a few paces until Shawn grasped my shoulders, looked down the street, and looked me in the eyes.
Then he kissed on my forehead and pulled me into a warm hug. His arms slipped down my arms and around my waist. He was warm and smelt wonderful. He sighed contently as I buried my head in his chest and his unstyled hair brushed my cheeks.
I looked up at him. "Hi."
He smiled again. "Hey."
We broke apart and he took my hand in his.
"I missed you."
I laughed. "Not even twenty four hours and we are already the most cliché two people in the world!"
"Two people?" He frowned
I realized what I was implying. "Well I didn't want to say couple because I mean I don't know and.."
"It's okay," he reassured me. "Uncertainties, remember?"
I grinned at what we called ourselves and swung our intertwined hands. "Right."
A cold autumn breeze ran it's icy fingers up and down my arm and I shivered.
"Are you cold?"
"No I just forgot my jacket it's okay I'll survive."
"No no," he let my hand fall back to my side as he reached his hands up and pulled his sweater off. "Take it." He had only a white tshirt on and I could see his toned chest underneath it.
"Shawn, you'll freeze." I insisted.
"So I'll be your Jack, and you can be Rose."
He motioned for me to life my arms and I rolled my eyes and obliged.
He slipped the sweater over my head and it hugged me. It smelt like he did and I knew I wouldn't want to give it back.
I adjusted it and he pulled the hood over my head covering my eyes. We laughed as we heard the sound of running feet.
"Hey," Shawn stepped away from me only slightly and suddenly the sweater didn't feel warm. "You ready?"
The two girls nodded. "Can we hurry pleasssse" Aaliyah groaned.
"Okay you guys run ahead do NOT get lost and wait for me to order okay?" He was bent so he was looking them both in the eye making them giggle.
"Okay see you soon!" And with that they took off.
"Is everything okay?" I asked as we started walking.
"Of course, why?"
"Just wondering."
"Okay."
Once the girls were out of sight I felt his hand clasping mine and I felt my heart dropping.
He was ashamed to be seen with me I knew it.
So I let go.
