"I vote for poker," I said sitting up "I need to learn SOMETHING new tonight besides never to drink again."

Shawn laughed as he shuffled the cards. "As you wish."

Shawn and I sat on the bed as he tried to explain poker several times. I couldn't help but laugh at my confusion and his flustered look on his face.

"What do we bet?" I asked, "that's all I know for certain that we have to gamble."

Shawn smiled. "Not as dense as we think."

I reached over and slapped his shoulder. He reached up and held it tightly pretending to be wounded. Not that he already wasn't with the swollen lip and everything. He had fought Daemon for me.

"Haha jokes on me but seriously what's the prize?"

He pondered that question for a moment.

"You have to kiss the person you love most in the world at this very moment no matter where they are right now. If you have to go drive to find them then you do that."

I froze at the notion. "But-"

"No buts, Astrid. I'm slightly drunk and so are you so it's stupid and fun and we probably may not remember in the morning." He waved a finger in my face. I laughed again and felt my cheeks fluster.

What if I want to remeber? I thought to myself.

"Fine," I groaned instead, "let the games begin."

We played for a good half hour of flipping cards, using loose change and little trinkets we found on the dressers beside the bed, as chips. I stole a glance at the clock. It was two am.

I was loosing.

"Looks like we are going to have to go for a drive to find your true love." Cooed shawn as he flushed me out.

Maybe we won't even have to leave this room. I thought again.

"Come on," I shoved the cards towards him along with the makeshift chips, and crawled back under the covers. "Tomorrow, I'm tired."

Shawn knew I wasn't up for anything so he nodded. "Okay," he came round to the other side and slid under the covers next to me. "Tomorrow."

We lay there in silence, the smell of sweat and alcohol wafted through the room as we finally heard the music die down. I dared not stir as to wake the boy next to me.

I was in bed with a boy. A boy who had gotten best up for me. A boy who seemed to care about me, maybe not in a romantic way but he cared.

How did this happen? It was like an overnight thing really. We had never talked before and suddenly I've found a companion who understands me.

"Who are we going to find tomorrow?" The boy stirred.

It was all overwhelming and I decided my best escape would be to say I needed to get a drink.

I pulled the covers off slowly and stood. "Shawn I'm just going to get a drink." I started out of the bed when I felt a hand grasp my wrist and pull me back into the bed. I collapsed beside the now laughing shawn. I rolled over slowly to face him, his hand still on mine.

"Who are we going to find?" He looked into my eyes. No, that's an understatement. He looked into my heart; and he understood.

"We aren't going any where." I felt myself whisper into his face.

I let my hands find his neck, running my fingers along his vein. I found the chain to his hidden neck lace beneath his shirt and I pulled it towards me. It brought his lips, perfectly parted, towards mine.

I felt him slip is hand across my chest and he lifted himself above me. His breath warm against my eyes.

Then we collided. And we understood.

I kissed him, and he kissed me.
