Day turned into night after the Romans were treated to almost an entire day of near starving. There were very few of us who elected to give them food or water, Naevia often spoke up that only the children deserved life at this point; 'wasn't their fault they were Roman.' I barely recognized her in that moment. It stung my heart, I had the young slave girl Sibyl following me around like a shadow which didn't bother me as much as I'd thought it might. She'd been helping me feed the Romans when she told me someone was watching me. "Remain here, should anyone say anything to you, tell them I have said they are to be fed until Spartacus says otherwise. If they threaten you with violence... find... Gannicus, tell him... It would please me if he affording you with protection." I told her as I bit my lip hard.
"You are still mad at him?" She asked me, she knew what had happened between us. She knew his betrayal, she knew I would never stop loving him. Regardless of the hurt going on within my chest. "For now, yes." I told her with a soft smile, "I will be back." I told her as I rose from my knees, a few of the Romans saying their thanks to me as if it was even deserved after the night they endured.
I made my way around the wall to find Nemetes leaning against one of the blood stained stones. "Gannicus did us all a disservice hurting you as he did." He stated, "Made you weak."
I smiled, "Warms a woman's heart knowing men view her as weak when they too stand just as such. You haven't been skulking around me to jest at my pain, so what is it?" I asked him.
"A pain we both share." He told me, Saxa and Gannicus had betrayed him just as much as they had me. It was no secret the man was hurting, yet thinking I was someone who would burden his pain with him, was something else. "Yet we both know, we are fools and will taken them back into loving embrace once more... what is it Nemetes. I am busy."
"Feeding the filth, you are right though." He paused, "Apologies for having assumed you a woman needing taken care of." He huffed.
"Nemetes, it is not that. I just need to deal with this on my own, as you need to figure out what you want on yours. Losing Saxa must have been hard." I offered. "Hardly, the woman fucks anything that walks past her without a second thought. Gannicus will see soon enough the mistake he made by accepting temptation. Just know regardless of wanting it or not, I will watch over you... and your slave friend even if you are doing something I would count as stupid." He said before walking off. "Of course..." I rolled my eyes walking back into the courtyard.
"Jana... come, Spartacus wishes to speak to his Generals." Agron told me from across the way, if it wasn't one mess it was another. I looked over at Sibyl, motioning for her to follow me. I would rather know the girl is safe than in potential danger.
"Did Nemetes tell you what he wanted?" She asked me.
"Likely just a friend, and someone to share in his hatred with. Two things, I can not currently be there for at this moment." I told her as we reached Agron who lead us towards Spartacus. The group of us making our way towards the new blacksmith the army had gathered. After telling Sibyl to run off back to the villa we secured as ours, well ours shared with Agron and Nasir. I was left alone with Spartacus and Agron.
"This was a meeting with the Generals... where are Gannicus and Crixus then?" I asked my brother. "Well his important Generals." He whispered to me as I rolled my eyes.
