I could see Agron and Spartacus standing just outside the doors, blood clearly seeping its way beyond the door as I stood just between them. Looking in at all the bodies, all the men and women as well as the few children that weren't being hidden within the bigger villa. "We should have been hiding the survivors this whole time, it was a matter of time before someone snapped." I remarked.
"Seriously Jana?" Agron asked me as Spartacus looked over at me sympathetically. "You knew we were to meet hours ago at the harbor." I couldn't help but roll my eyes, Nemetes told me they were looking to replace me or remove me so what did it even matter where I was.
"I am here now." I stated plainly. "I do not trust, Nemetes new friend... I would advise you best to stay from him." Agron spoke trying his best attempt at being polite.
"You don't like anyone I choose to spend my time with. Gannicus, Varro, now with Lyciscus." I told him, "Besides, from what I've been hearing I am to be removed from council and stripped of leadership."
Spartacus looked taken aback by my statement as he moved closer to me. "I cherish your voice above all others, I would do no such thing. You are here to help us decide what is to be done next." He spoke up, Nemetes lied to persuade me to join his madness. Figures.
"Apologies for doubting my worth then." I told him as I looked up at all the bodies either hanging or stuffed into the shelves that once stored grain. Watching as Donar hoisted another body up into the rafters as I bit my lip lightly. "We must rid ourselves of the bodies before disease festers within them." I told Spartacus as he just nodded.
"See them cleaned of blood and salted, to hold rot at length." He told Nasir who was helping Donar and a few other slaves. "They may yet serve purpose." I walked beyond the entrance with Spartacus listening to Agron be a fool towards Nasir causing me to shake my head.
"Lyciscus... what make you of him?" Spartacus shot at me as I looked over at him. "In what manner do you speak?" I asked him as he chuckled. "As much as watching you swell with happiness upon reunion with Gannicus, it lifts heart in these dire times to see you not yet still with tears in eyes over what had happened." He told me.
"He is different than what I am used too. Gannicus was always a man to act and think later, Lyciscus though veiled with his motives he has a very sweet natured side to him... regardless of what happened last night. He did not think they would massacre children." I told him as I looked away from him.
"Do you trust him?" Spartacus asked me, and I knew the question reached for an answer further than I was able to answer honestly. "I trust him with me to a point, though to say I trust him to favor our cause over the new cause that Naevia and Crixus lead... I do not. The man seeks blood like many of our people do." I told him as he nodded. "A thing I have been hearing on repeat since dawn broke." He told me as Agron rejoined us.
"You are an idiot." I snapped at him as he just stared at me. "An absolute one at that."
We made our way back towards the villa talking about the slaughter that had happened, Agron blaming the entire situation on the pirates and Naevia. Spartacus however refused to place soul blame on anyone, besides himself for not being more mindful. I blamed myself for not reacting like I should have, instead I froze up and just did nothing. Less than nothing if I really thought about it.
