I sat up in the bed like a bolt looking around the room after having yet another nightmare of Caesar falling on the field of battle. Only to be comforted by his touch as he kissed my shoulder blades from behind me, pulling my hair off my shoulders. "Did you have another nightmare?" He whispered to me as I nodded.
"Is there really no way he will let me fight beside you? I cannot bare the thought of watching from above and not knowing where to look for you."
"Jana... all will be fine. I will return to your arms before the sun sets." He told me as I lowered my head. Had they really expected to kill all my people that quickly? I knew they were outnumbered greatly since the battle with Crixus. "I... I had not meant to speak so soon of their-" I held my finger to his lips.
"Please... it is hard enough for me to handle knowing they are going to be dead..." I told him softly as he just nodded to me. "Let me help you put on your armour before I send for Kore," I told him as he smiled to me softly kissing my lips.
"Soon enough we will be back in Rome... all this death and war behind us." He told me as I weakly smiled at him. "Of course." Though Rome was really just going to be a whole different type of slavery for me, I would still be serving Crassus and Caesar to an extent just to stay alive. Going to Rome was in no way me gaining my freedom.

"Are you sure you want to watch this?" Kore's voice grew from beside me. "They are still your people."
"I have to watch," I told her as my eyes scanned over the small cluster of rebels. "I will have to let Jana die with them down there. I will not be allowed to be myself anymore once I am taken to Rome. I'll have to become this... proper Roman woman."
"Jana, no. You must live on so that their memories never fade. The memory of your brother, Gannicus... Spartacus. Their sacrifices must never be forgotten." She told me.
"Nor will they ever be after today. I do this for my survival... Kore. I do not know what awful people wait for me in Rome, I grew up in a home filled with scheming snakes. I assume Rome is a more poisonous, more vicious breed."
"You would not be wrong in assuming such." She told me as I nodded.
"I should be down there among them... did I make the wrong choice of staying here with Caesar?" I asked her as we both sat down on the ground knowing this was really not going to be over anytime soon.
"Do you love him?" She questioned me. "I just mean that I'm a slave and I should be down there with the rebels... dying with them." I told her as she smiled at me shaking her head.
"Jana. Do you love Gaius?"
"Of course I do. Without a doubt."
"Then you made the right choice. Your people would not want you dying with them when you could be elsewhere living, they are dying by their own choice." She told me.
"Of course," I told her softly before looking back out at the cluster of my people as they soon began to roar loudly clamouring their weapons about. "It is time?" She asked me as I looked over to her.
"Spartacus will not signal the attack until Crassus makes a move. He will prepare his people for death, long before making the first step into leading them there. He wants their blood to be on Crassus' hands. Though all blood split is on both their hands... Spartacus and his people should have made for the mountains the moment Crixus and the army left, they waited... and they waited far too long.
