At morning light we had made an attempt for the wall only to see our numbers lessen. I looked over to Agron as he huffed while we walked back to the camp. Many of us disgruntled by what had transpired before us. I looked over to Gannicus, "There is still time for me to return to the Romans. Maybe I can spare words see wall parted for us." I told them as he shook his head.
"Never speak that again, if Agron heard you I can promise you he would shit a wall." I just stared at him pulling the fur pelt over my shoulder. "We both know it could work. They were asking for coin in return of me so--" Gannicus held his hand to my lips.
"I would not see you so far removed from my side again after nearly losing you in those walls." He told me as we all reached the top of the hill. "Give count to those who have fallen!" Spartacus ordered Agron who now stood behind me. "I would have number." He spoke as I looked back at Agron only to watch him walk away from me.
"The gods march us halfway to fucking Olympus, only to piss on us from atop a wall." Gannicus spoke as I nodded, "There must be another way to breach that wall, Spartacus." I added. "Did anyone see any weak defenses?" I asked.
"Not one." Crixus growled. "Spartacus." Nasir called as he ran towards us. "Crassus' army approaches from the mountain pass."
I looked over at Gannicus, "They have us trapped here. Would not be a good time to surrender myself?" I asked as he shook his head. "Even if we were all dying, even then would not be a good enough time." He told me.
"Move all those who cannot fight to safe distance. See the others to weapons." Spartacus told Nasir as Gannicus and I moved closer to him and Crixus.
"We will show the man forged of gold the cost of our lives." Spartacus told us all as we headed back towards the camp to greet Crassus' army. Once all were there our rebel army just continued to rattle and roar making as much noise as possible. The rest of us knew better, Agron was soon at my side along with Naevia and Gannicus. Crixus and Spartacus standing at the very front of our army as we all stood in silence within our group as we watched their swelling numbers file closer and closer to us. There were so many of them yet there was no sign of their leaders, Caesar and Crassus were not among them.
"We shall see Roman blood upon fucking snow!" Crixus roared as I watched Naevia move so that she was at his side. Agron, Gannicus and I moved from our place to go stand alongside Spartacus my heart beating faster and harder with each step I took towards the front line. "Or our own in glorious death!" Crixus continued as the roars and cheers just grew in volume.
"Hold!" Spartacus called out as the cheers died down almost instantly. "Calm yourselves!"
"Your words move against purpose. We must press attack, before his army washes over us." Crixus told him as I looked over at the two men, agreeing for once with Crixus, though I as well as Spartacus knew the army was moved here for show. Without Crassus or Caesar here their armies would not advance without given command to do so.
"They do not intend to advance." Spartacus told us as we heard their horns blow and their men stop in their place. They were to set up camp where they stood which was in and of itself ingenious. It left us with no escape, a thing Crassus clearly knew what he was doing, he did not think like a typical Roman.
