When entering the city, Alexei felt that they were being the center of attention. Everyone was looking at Lilth and him. But it was different.
They were looking at Lilth because she was from there and was a Colonel, serving and protecting the capital. They were looking at her, happily, glad that she's finally back.
But they were also looking at him like he was a weird being. A foreigner, not supposed to be standing there. He heard some comments "a foreigner", "another?", "why Lilth brings foreigners?" He had to talk to Lilth later after hearing the last thing, had she already brought more people like him to Atlantis?
They went to the main square where there was the biggest building in Atlantis; The Crystal Mansion. It was the government's building and also the army's headquarters.
Lilth brought him to a bedroom and asked him to remain there while she talked to the Elders. She needed to inform.
Alexei looked through the window. Lilth was right, the Atlantis capital was the most beautiful of all. Or at least, it was better than the one he had been living in for the last three years.
Lilth went back after no more than twenty minutes.
"C'mon, Lyoshka, I've to check on my warriors" she said "There's been a long time I don't see them"
"Fine" Alexei answered and got up. The truth was that he didn't want at all.
"You don't want, don't you?" she asked when the brownish blonde approached her.
"Why you always read my mind?" Alexei smiled "It's a power you have or what?"
"Nope" she said "Maybe it's just easy to know what you're thinking"
The Atlantis army's headquarters were basically underground. Alexei counted at least around seven hundred crystal stairs before getting to the training rooms.
A man was standing in the hall.
"Long time no see, General Shailee" Lilth said "Hope you've had good care with my unit"
"Yeah, Colonel Lilth" The man - Shailee - answered "They're pretty uncontrollable, but they're young, that's normal" He started walking towards both "And a new foreigner you've brought..." He said, scanning Alexei with a disgusting look "Why do you do that?" He turned to Lilth "What has the Legion of Recognition with getting together with foreigners?"
"C'mon, it has been three and all were innocent children who had nowhere to go" Lilth said and Alexei looked at her. She was protecting more foreigners? "If they weren't, the Elders wouldn't have let them in. And that's not a thing of the Legion. We stand secret from the foreigners"
"But the rumour says that you went to help a foreigner four years ago" Shailee said
"A foreigner that I met by chance when I was new in the Legion" Lilth said "A beginner's mistake"
Alexei had never asked Ivan how he met Lilth. Now he discovered that it had been by chance. The Atlants weren't supposed to be seen. But a mistake could always be made.
Shailee looked at her, smirking "Yeah, a beginner's mistake. But you went back to him"
Alexei felt Lilth was boiling in anger even if she was trying to hold that neutral expression
"It was my fault she and Ivan had to go back to each other" Alexei muttered. Lilth and Shailee looked at him "If Ivan had let Yurovsky kill me back then, maybe he hadn't contacted her"
Shailee looked at him "Letting someone kill you?" He fixed his glare "You're young, how old are you now?"
"Eighteen" Alexei replied, shortly "Gonna be nineteen in the summer"
