"What do you mean?"

But no one heard Alexei's question.

Alexei's mind was working too fast. What did Sophie meant? That they were alive? But he... His legs trembled.

"And how did that end?" Other Elder man asked

"They killed all the execution guards except their leader, Yurovsky" Sophie said. Alexei gritted his teeth and clenched his fists but was still trembling. That man... Yurovsky... "Don't picture him" He said to himself "I don't want to remember what he did"

Lilth looked at Shailee who didn't seem to remember the name. Lilth remembered he hadn't shown importance on the name two months ago so now it hadn't any sense.

Sophie followed "They imprisioned him. In the next months, their army crushed the Red Army and all the Bolsheviks, finishing their revolution. They imprisioned their main leaders like Lenin. Later, they gained control over all Russia with their Terror, the same system they're using in the whole continent" She paused "They named themselves Tsar and Tsaritsa of Russia, and executed all the prisioners"

Alexei felt like falling and wondered why he was that far from the wall. The Bolsheviks were over, Lenin and Yurovsky were dead and now his beloved country was in the hands of a power that was supposedly worse.

"What's the Terror?" Lilth asked

"It's... I don't know how to explain it. It's like what happened in France during their revolution. They imprision the rebels they capture and they execute them... In public, the majority of the time. I think they try to show who's ruling... In a cruel way of course" Sophie said, trembling with utter fear.

"Totally worse" Alexei thought "Public executions, that's... simply horrible"

"And lately, they invaded my country. They murdered my parents and they intended the same with me and Erik" Sophie ended

"That takes us to one of the main questions" The first Elder woman said "Why were they trying to kill you?"

"I don't know" Sophie said "I think it's just because we're royals"

"That doesn't seem a reason" An Elder man from the back said

Alexei breathed. "I understand why" He said, calmly.

Everyone turned their glares to Alexei. The Russian looked to all of them.

"Really?" Sophie mumbled

"Okay, explain" The Elder man said

"But first" Alexei looked to Sophie "Answer me, what did you mean before?"

"What did I mean with what?" Sophie asked

"About the execution" He said "You said that the fact that they were all executed by the Reds" He felt how tough it was to say it "was only something the Austro-Hungarians said. What do you mean with that?"

"Okay" Sophie said "That's because no one knows what happened for sure. The rebels don't believe that version. The Austro-Hungarians said that version"

"But the Whites were there" Alexei said "I suppose that they're now in the rebel side. They saw it. Why don't they believe it?"

"The only reason they don't is because... None of the Whites who were present in the mission that entered with the Austro-Hungarians in the Ipatiev House" She gulped "is alive. More to say, they didn't return from the mission. The Austro-Hungarians killed them" She said "The rebels think that Austria-Hungary is hiding something. They also think they could have tricked them, making them arrive late to the execution, to avoid survivors. But it doesn't make sense."

"It does" Alexei thought "It definetly does"

Lunn mumbled "Hiding what?"

"Hiding what they saw" Alexei replied "And Sophie... it makes sense"

Everyone looked at him.

"Explain yourself" The third Elder woman said

"Okay" He said "First, it can make sense, now with you being chased by them" He looked to Sophie "They chase royals. In your case, because after your parents, you're the Danish heirs. They're illegitimate rulers. You are the legitimates. If the people know that a possible legitimate ruler is alive, they'll have hope for you to come back. And hope is good for rebellion"

«Probably, the Austro-Hungarians knew how to end with the Bolsheviks. But they need the Imperial family out of the way, as they were the legitimate rulers. So, they discovered the Reds were going to execute them. And decided to tell it to the Whites, in a way that they arrived late and the family was dead by then" He said "They killed the Reds and looked to see if all the family was dead. But something failed. I suppose... They didn't have the correct number of corpses from the Imperial family. That meant that a member had ran away, that wasn't dead. And the Whites noticed. Their plan hadn't gone the way they wanted" He looked to the Elders "So, to avoid people knowing it, they killed the Whites and later, Yurovsky and told that they were all dead"

Lilth looked to Alexei. He made it sound like a mere supposition, something he knew it was true. "He's brave" She thought "He hasn't flinched telling it"

"Okay, we understand" The oldest of the Elder men said "We'll deliberate and tell our decision later"

Gabri and Alexei brought Sophie to her room. Lunn appeared after and left Erik with them.

"Good speech, Alyosha" Gabri said

"Спасибо" He replied

"What?" She asked. Alexei noticed he'd talked in his mother language.

"I said thanks" He said "But it came out in Russian"

Sophie said "It was good. It's understandable that way"

"They don't want their power in danger" Gabri said

Erik was trying to climb the shelves. No one noticed but he was already there, hanging. Suddenly, Alexei noticed him, about to fall.

"Erik, nyet!" He shouted and grabbed the blonde boy when he fell "Вы не должны делать, что"

The boy looked to Alexei, obviously not understanding him and clapped his hands smiling. Alexei smiled. This little boy was sweet and cheerful "And this boy is a prince, a future king..." He thought "It's so similar to... well, me when I was little. Just... I looked like a girl back then" He smiled and held the boy higher. Erik touched Alexei's hair, playing a bit with his longer hair strand.

Suddenly, Lilth entered.

"The Elders had decided" She paused "They're going to send a little mission to the Foreign World to help the others"

"Which others?" Gabri asked

"Thomas' one" She said shortly "They're in France. But we're gonna go to the opposite side" She paused "We'll leave by the end of the month and you three are coming" She was about to leave and turned "It's the first time we're gonna get into Foreign World's things, let's not disappoint the people we're gonna help"

Спасибо = Thanks (Russian)

Вы не должны делать, что = You shouldn't do that (Russian)

Nyet = No (Russian) (Not gonna write in Cyrillic, for a word in Russian that I know...)
