Gabrielle didn't have personal issues against Austria-Hungary... Until now. Seeing his hometown being attacked by them was the first one she had.
She was running into battle near Alexei. The Russian was focused into fighting the soldiers which were right in front of him.
She decided to get away from the rebels she was fighting with when she saw some soldiers going into city centre.
Running through the streets, she could see the people fighting with torches, knives and sickles. The warrior society of Bavaria, where only some noblewoman didn't know how to defend themselves. Even the Wittelsbach - Gabrielle's family - had tradition of training both sexes for fighting. Even her father had put a male soldiers' guard for her brother and a female soldiers' one for her. But her mother had been always against. Maybe it had something to do that she had been born in the noble society of the Duchy of Baden and Gabri didn't know if they were like the Bavarians. She was sure that not.
Some soldiers were burnt, hurt or dead in some cases. In most cases where the dominant and victorious side has the least casualties, this was the exception. The Bavarians were clearly winning. Gabri smiled. The Bavarians, hurt in some cases, were even outnumbering.
Her sword cut some soldiers' chest. One, two, three... Some minutes after, she had lost count, but they were just hurt. Others were left unconscious being hit in the head with the handle of the sword. She didn't mind them.
She saw some soldiers running towards the palace. She held her sword tightly and ran towards the palace. She wasn't gonna let them get in.
She hurt some others in the way but her glare was only fixed in the huge and beautiful building that was in the street. The Munich Residenz. But there were soldiers everywhere.
"Go away" Gabri thought in her mind with fury
She cut another two and left unconsious other two. The Ducal Guards were also hurting other soldiers. But she wasn't paying attenttion to them. Until...
"Grand Princess!" A young male voice shouted
Gabri turned and saw a blonde boy with brown eyes, dressed in a Ducal Guard uniform.
"Bastian!" Gabri said and ran into him. She remembered the boy - who was just a year older than her brother - who was always checking in them because her father had assigned him in her brother's guard. A young nobleman.
Bastian approached her "Woah, grown stronger, braver and... Cuter"
"Danke" Gabri smiled "But this isn't the best moment for this"
"I know" Bastian held his sword high "I think they're plotting something. An assassination, maybe"
Plotting? Assassination? "I'm going in" Most of the times Bastian was right. And if he was... She didn't want to think. She thought she heard Bastian calling her name but she ignored it.
The guards were leaving injured most of the soldiers. Gabri was taking part in it. It was strange for her to remember every corner of the palace, after ten years outside.
"The throne room, where was it?" Gabri thought and saw a picture hanging on the wall near a new corridor. It showed an armoured man in a horse.
"That's... Heilige Kaiser Karl V!" Gabri said in a lower voice "My room is in this corridor so the throne room is... This way!" She started running.
But arriving she heard a shot. Her blood froze and her heartbeat became faster. She opened the door and she became paler. She couldn't say anything apart from...
"PAPA!" she cried and ran.
The Grand Duke Wilhelm was in the ground, bleeding from a little hole - bullet, she supposed - in his chest. He was breathing with difficulties.
"Gabri... mein Krieger-Prinzessin..." The Duke said weakly and softly "You're back... And you've grown up a lot..." He rised his hand and caressed his daughter's cheek "It's a pity... it has to be this way"
Gabri felt tears coming out and running down her cheeks, wetting her father's hand. She couldn't believe what was happening and was inside her, she wanted to deny it.
"Papa..." she whispered
"Hey, don't..." he said "Well, it's no use saying it" he coughed
"Papa!" she said
"I'll miss you all..." He said with a weak smile. His eyes closed suddenly, his heartbeat was also suddenly gone.
"Papa..." she said "Papa!" she cried in pain.
She heard quick footsteps coming from the other door in the throne room.
She was now clearly crying. Lots of tears flowing from her eyes, wetting her cheeks.
She got up and ran away. She wanted this to be a nightmare, her father was alive. This couldn't be real.
Her eyes were so glassy that she could difficultly see where she was running to. She wanted to hide in her bedroom and cry. Cry until her eyes had no more tears in them. Cry until she fell asleep. She just wanted not to be seen crying.
But, as if the universe didn't want to listen, she tripped over someone. She just cursed in her mind. Why had to happen this to her?
"You probably not know him/her, get up quickly and run to your room" She said to herself and she was ready but she had no luck, a voice froze her body.
"Gabri?"
