When Alexei lost sight of Gabri, he became worried deep in his insides. But tried to ignore it and focus into battle.

He looked around when it ended. He was surrounded by White soldiers and some Bavarians, some slightly injured. Around, injured - in a more serious way - Austro-Hungarians. Mostly retreating with difficulties. His sword was covered in blood and its tip was dripping the red liquid.

He spotted Sophie in the rear with other archers and nurses. He spotted Pavel near him with his bloody sword, helping the Bavarians. But he didn't spot Gabri.

"Pavel, where's Gabri?" He asked

"I don't know" The albino blonde answered "Wasn't her with you?"

"She was" Alexei said and ran.

The streets were a bit drenched in blood. The Bavarians were helping the injured of their side. The Austro-Hungarians were retreating like in the outskirts. But no trace of Gabri.

He arrived into the city centre. The mess in this part was even more. Still no trace.

"Черт" he cursed

Some soldiers - Bavarian, he supposed by the flag in their uniforms - were also helping the injured. Others were entering the building - a palace maybe? - in a fast pace.

He nearly tripped over a blonde soldier in his twenties.

"Be careful" the boy spat

"I'm sorry" Alexei mumbled quickly. Suddenly, he got an idea "Hey, have you seen a black-haired girl with ice blue eyes?"

The boy looked at him "You mean the Grand Princess?"

Alexei looked confused. Princess? Gabri? Had he heard fine? Didn't fit. But... Who said she wasn't?

"If her name is Gabrielle, yeah" he said

The blonde nodded "She went inside" he moved his chin pointing the building.

"Okay, thanks" Alexei said and ran inside.

His mind worked fast in thinking about the fact of Gabri being a German - well, Bavarian - Princess. She didn't fit at all and well, why didn't she tell him... Or well, anyone?

Oh yeah, he also had hidden her being an imperial prince. It was the same.

Running across lots of corridors, he was starting to have the sensation of running in circles. Until he tripped over someone.

His mind filled in curses until he opened his eyes and saw... her. Or at least, a shadow of her with her black hair being a mess and... Was she crying? Yeah, his reddish cheeks and eyes and a slight trace of tears were the proofs.

"Gabri?" he asked

She didn't answer nor look at him. She just got up fast and difficultly, ready to run.

"Hey, wait" he said, while holding her wrist. "What happened?"

"LASS MICH LOS!" she shouted, got away from his grip - pushing him towards the wall - and ran into the corridor, enter in a room and slammed the door.

Alexei fell in the floor and his back hit the wall. He didn't know what to do.

He got up and walked slowly until getting to the door that Gabri had just slammed. He sighed and opened quietly and slowly. He did the same when closing it after him.

The bedroom was elegant, common for a girl of noble rank. The bed was exactly the same. Gabri was in it, wrapped in light blue blankets.

He walked slowly through the room and sat down. Gabri turned and looked at him. Their glares met. Her eyes were glassy and puffy. Her face was reddish and some of her tears were dry, leaving a slight transparent trace.

"Alex" she said with her broken voice.

Gabri moved towards him and her head leaned in his chest. Alexei put his arms around her. His mind thinking in fury that if someone had made her cry, he was going to beat that someone up. Gabri was a strong girl, she was probably embarrassed of crying in front of people.

"Gabri... What happened?" he whispered, concerned, his voice filled with worry.

"My... father..." her weak voice trembled "My father was killed" she sobbed

All the comfort words Alexei had thought of saying, died in his throat. He couldn't believe this. His hug became tighter. And he wasn't going to let go.

Gabri, meanwhile, was comfortable with the silence and Alexei's warmth. She remembered her desire of being left alone while crying, thinking no one would understand her... She didn't think in Alexei. He had also seen his father being killed. If she needed some support, Alexei had to be it. It was pathetic to be a crybaby - the image she thought she was giving at the moment - but now it was... As long as it was just Alexei who saw it, it wouldn't matter. Tears kept falling down her cheeks and wetting the Russian's shirt.

Alexei wasn't sure of what to do now. Gabri was still crying, as he felt the wet fabric of his shirt in his chest. He breathed heavily and gave her a quick feather-light kiss in her forehead. She trembled a bit but didn't move. Neither he did.

They were like in another dimension, even if Alexei could still hear the noises from outside. Footsteps, cries, German talking. But he wasn't caring. He and Gabri were in their own silence, supporting each other with any spoken word.I f it wasn't a tragic moment, it would have been so romantic.

Alexei thought it was probably past midnight. Gabri's heavy breathing was noticeable for him as she was still leaning in his chest. She had fallen asleep just some minutes ago but after a terrible experience, she needed a good rest.

The moonlight was coming through the window, covering everything of a pure and pale white. Like the winter's snow. This memory made Alexei smile briefly and look into the shining full moon. He looked to Gabri and hugged her a bit tighter.

He looked around, seeing a common bedroom for a noble or even royal girl. It was beautiful under the moonlight.

His eyelids were starting to feel heavier and heavier until he couldn't keep them open for more time. He tried to lie down but not moving Gabri at all, trying not to wake her up. When he had already laid, the sleep finally took him.

Черт = Damn (Russian)

Lass mich los = Let me go (the German version of Frozen's Let it Go is called Lass jetzt los, that means Let go now)
