End of the month
It was the departure day. Alexei felt tired when he had to get up. "Why 6 AM? Why so early? Why!?" His mind shouted.
He put on the Legion's uniform and caressed his brownish blonde hair.
When arriving to the training room, he didn't see Gabri or Sophie. It was just a boys' training for some hours.
He saw them in the room they were called in after training. Both were wearing the Legion's uniform, but Sophie's trousers were white instead of black. He approached them
"Privyet, girls" He greeted "You ready?"
"As ready as we can be" Gabri said "Have you slept well?"
"Yeah, why you ask?" Alexei smiled
"Because you seem to want to go back to bed" She smiled
"I want to go back but duties are first" Alexei said
"I'm excited!" Sophie turned graciously, like she was dancing
Alexei and Gabri looked to each other. They remembered when the Elders had chosen the squad for the mission in the Foreign World and Sophie was chosen with them. They didn't know what was Sophie going to do in the mission. She was just thirteen, a little kid!
Later, she started learning archery. By her words "I want to be useful out there. I know first aid and be useful as a nurse but I want also to be useful if we are in the battlefield". They were wise words for a little girl.
Sophie went round to talk with the other girls of the squad.
"Which is our destination?" Alexei asked
"Dunno, Alyosha" Gabri sighed "I want to know, but I think no one knows"
"And why don't they tell us? Is that so secret?" Alexei complained
"It won't be for so long. We leave today after all" Gabri said
Both followed Sophie's movements in the room.
"Alexei" Gabri said. Alexei looked at her, strangely. It was unusual for Gabri to call him Alexei. Alex or Alyosha were more common.
"Yes?" He said "Strange that you call me by my full name"
"I know" She said "Is something troubling you?"
"What do you mean?" He asked
"I don't know what it is" She said "You seem troubled since the Council"
"It's nothing" He said, shortly. But he just wanted to avoid the topic.
"Okay" She just answered "I feel that I shouldn't ask you anything about you or your past, because it seems a tough subject" She paused "It's just a feeling I have"
Alexei looked at her. Yes, it was tough. His mind argued for some seconds whether tell her or not. He chose the latter. Not for the moment at least.
"Don't worry. I'll tell you when I feel ready, you're right with the thing of a tough subject" He said and plasted a little smile.
Suddenly, Lilth entered in the room.
"Squad!" She shouted "Grab your weapons and hoods and join me in the Black in five minutes!" She turned and left
"Alright. The moment has come. And one thing" Gabri put a hand in Alexei's shoulder "I also want to go back to bed. 6 AM is to early to leave just some moments before midday" She smiled and walked away.
By the time Lilth had told as limit, the whole squad - formed by around thirty Atlants, including the three foreigners - was in the door. The Black Door was, as its name said, totally black.
It reminded Alexei of the Northern Door from where Sophie and Erik had entered in Atlantis. It was less ornamented than the Northern, but it was only that.
Gabri and Sophie were by him. Sophie had a wooden bow and a quiver of wooden arrows in her back. Gabri had an iron sword, hanging in her waist. She didn't seem to have more weapons but Alexei knew she had two daggers tied one to each of her legs. He knew it because he also had two daggers in his legs and the iron sword in his waist. His dark blue eyes collided with her icy blue ones. They were shiny and cute and... Attractive. Alexei felt a minimum blush in his cheeks but ignored it. He had no time to think in possible emotions.
Everyone had brown hoods that they suddenly pulled over the head everyone at the same time.
"On we go" He said to himself and followed all the rest of the squad through the door.
Alexei - just like the rest of the squad - had closed his eyes when entering the door. Lilth had warned them. The light inside the link between the door and the place where it takes is strong enough to blind. He felt being swallowed by a hurricane. Luckily, he wasn't. Suddenly, that sensation disappeared.
"Alyosha" He heard Gabri's voice "We have arrived. Open your eyes"
Alexei automatically obeyed. His sight needed some seconds until it got used to the light in the Foreign World. In Atlantis, the sun wasn't that shiny. He put a hand to avoid the sun shining directly into his eyes. He quitted it when his sight had got used to.
He looked to Gabri who was standing by him. So beautifully dazzling. He blushed and looked at Sophie, who was beside her.
"Where do you think we are?" Sophie asked him
"I don't know" He mumbled
"Somewhere in the coast of the Black Sea, according to the door's name" Gabri said
Lilth went to them.
"The advanced will come in some minutes and he'll reveal the way to get to the rebels" Lilth said
"The advanced?" Alexei asked
"A soldier we sent to inform the rebels" Lilth said "We're coming as allies, after all"
"You mean that one that's running towards us?" Sophie asked, in a way that sounded pretty innocent.
Lilth looked in the same direction as Sophie "Yeah, that is" She turned and walked towards the young man.
They were talking and the three weren't aware of what about. Just some minutes after, all the squad was following the man and Lilth. The three foreigners were close to Lilth.
"Where exactly are we heading to?" Gabri asked the young man
"The rebel army is refugied in a white mansion" The young man said "We'll get there in some minutes"
Alexei was looking around. The landscape seemed so familiar. "Why it's that?" He asked himself
"We have arrived" The young man said. Alexei was looking to a side and turned to the front.
But suddenly, he felt himself getting paler. Losing colour at supersonic speed. He sure was as white as the snow now.
He didn't want to be here "No, no, no, no, NO" His mind cried "Not here!" He wanted to run away so he stepped back. Unfortunately, Gabri was behind him and he accidentally stepped in her feet.
"Ouch" She said
"S-Sorry" Alexei apologized quickly
"What happens?" She asked "You're suddenly paler than normal"
"It's n-nothing" He mumbled. But Gabri was already suspicious. Alexei was acting strange. Too strange. Had something terrible happened to him here?
A woman appeared in front of them. She had brown long hair and green eyes. She was dressed like a Red Cross nurse.
"You must be the Atlants" She said. Lilth nodded "Welcome to Livadia Palace. I'm Kseniya"
Privyet = Hello (Russian)
