I looked at Tatiana, and she looked truly afraid and concerned for our people. All of our people. Then I turned and looked at my father again, he looked into my eyes, smiled and nodded.

Then he said, "we desperately need you, little girl."

I sat there, staring off into the distance, as I thought about what both my father and Tatiana had said. I knew, that our world needed a change, that it needs a strong but compassionate ruler. Someone, who was strong and willing enough, to force the changes that we so badly need.

I stood up and walked over to the window and looked up at the night sky as I thought more about what I had been told. We need someone, who would be able to tell the royals to sit down and shut the hell up. Without caring, what the royals thought about them.

We need a new way of doing things. We need someone to bring us out of the dark ages, in some respects, while also returning us to the old ways in others. But, could I be that person, the person that our world truly needs, to protect and rule it?

Inside my heart, I felt a nudge from Mason. I heard his words in my mind. "Rosie, you are what our world truly needs, you always have been. Only you, are strong and resilient enough, for what is to come. You can do this, believe in yourself little sister. Believe in yourself, like I believe in you. Like I have always believed in you. I have always known, that you would do great things for our world. Do this Rosie, make our world a better place, a safer place, for everyone. For all of the many many generations, that are hopefully yet to come."

Mason's trust and belief in me, helped me make my decision. I just wish, that I could have Mitya's trust and belief. But I knew, that he didn't want to be around me anymore.

Maybe he never did. Maybe he just pretended to love me, to get in my pants. No, that isn't it. Because he fought our love so hard. If that was all he had been after, he would have finished the lust charm, instead of breaking the spell. Which I know that he only did, because he knew how upset I would be, to lose my virginity under a spell.

Regardless, I had to do, what I had to do. In order to help and protect my people, ALL of my people. Dhampir and moroi, guardians and non-guardian dhampir, royals and non-royal moroi, I had to protect all of my people. Even if it meant my life. Even if I would be alone, for the rest of my life. Which, without Dimitri, was a sure thing. I would never willingly be with anyone but Dimitri because he held my heart and soul in his hands. He always had, even if he didn't want to. Even if he never wanted to see me ever again.

"If I agree to do this, then a lot of things are going to have to change."

"I understand, and I agree, that there are a lot of things about our world, that need changing."

"Then yes, yes I will do this." Both Tatiana, and my father gave a deep shoulder sagging thankful sigh.

"Thank you Rose, thank you so much."

"What do I need to do?"

Returning to the sofa I began to listen to what needed to happen. "First, I want you to take sixteen to eighteen months, and travel. Go anywhere that your heart desires. Go to places, that you have always wanted to see, places that you have always dreamed of going, return to the places that you miss. Then, for the next year, you move to Turkey, and move in with your father. He will have you tutors brought in, to teach you everything about our government, laws and way of living that you need to know. Both from the present as well as the past. While you are traveling, we will have someone go through everything, that you will need to know. I will have them straighten it all out, so that you won't be reading in circles. It will all be laid out straight and completely understandable for you. I hate reading about our laws, because they are all twisted around, it's like I said, reading in circles. And doing that, just gives me a bloody headache like you wouldn't believe."
