"Oh my gosh..."

I slowly opened my eyes and moaned in pain. Every inch of my body ached.

"The pain...it hurts so much..."

I found myself lying on my back and looking up at the color black.

No other colors. Just black.

Carefully, I sat up, making sure that I would not get my body in any more pain than it already had, and surveyed the mysterious place.

There was nothing in this empty place. No furniture. No other people. Not even the tiniest hint of light.

Just me.

And darkness.

"Why does this place seem familiar?" I told myself. "Have I been here?"

"That question is simple, Nigel. Of course you have."

My eyebrows shot upward at the sound of that creepy voice.

And it sounded like that it came from behind me.

Taking my sweet time, I spun my body around...

...and there he was. Shade.

It all came back to me now. The incident in chapter eight.

"Where is it?" he demanded.

"Where is what?" I questioned.

"The stone."

"What stone?"

"Do not lie to me, Nigel. Just tell me the truth, and I will leave you alone."

"I am serious! I have no idea what you are talking about!"

Shade let go of my face, and I coughed. "I apologize in advance, Nigel. You left me no other choice." I cried out as he grabbed my neck and hoisted me off the dark ground.

And I was trapped in the darkness once again.

With Shade. The killer shadow.

"So nice to meet you for a fourth time in a row," Shade said. A creepy smile appeared on his face, and I shuddered. "No worries, chicken. I have not invaded your dreams to kill you."

I was shocked by his comment. "W-what do you mean?" I wondered. "You had a desire to kill me."

"Plans have changed."

I raised an eyebrow. "Plans?"

"Apparently, trying to kill you in your dream is not good anymore. You keep waking up when I am about to kill you, and even if I do kill you in your sleep, you would still be alive. Dreams are not real after all."

"Y-yeah." I rubbed my knees. "That is good news."

"For you, but not for me. I have orders to end your life."

"By who?"

"That is none of your concern." He shoved his hands in his pockets. "I will be stopping by your house this afternoon to take care of you." He winked. "If you know what I mean."

I let out a whimper. I was terrified.

Shade brought his face close to my ear and whispered, "By the way, I am responsible for the deaths of your mother and Maxine."
