Crub! Oh my crub! The match must have landed on them!

The shadow girls pushed away from each other and opened their mouths. Shouts and cries escaped from the depths of their throats.

Katherine moved her hands through the fire, trying to put out the fire, while Karla was running around in a circle. It was no use though. The flames grew bigger and bigger by the second, and the fires were so big that you could barely see any parts of the shadows.

"Help!" Karla yelled.

"This cannot be happening to me!" Katherine also yelled. "I am too young to die yet again!"

I quickly sat up and held my stomach. The stomach ache disappeared. So did the rest of the pain that claimed me. It was gone. Washed away.

I became worried and watched in horror as the fire began gulping the two shadows. I could hear Karla and Katherine as plain as day. Karla kept begging for help, and Katherine continued on how it was not her time to die for sure.

Filled with worry in the pit of my stomach, I stared at the panicking shadows.

What could I do? And how could I do it?

I heard a groan and glanced in the direction that it was coming from. I saw Maxine moaning to herself and massaging her neck. Her back was against an invisible wall.

"What...what is going on?" Maxine asked.

I scooted next to her and held her. "Do you not see?" I questioned.

She coughed, and I gently patted her back. "See...see what? If you do not remember...I was almost chocked to death."

I pointed at the shadows. "You see the bits of light that are running around?"

"...yes."

"And you hear the yells, right?"

"...y-yes. Someone is calling for help."

I looked at the shadows and got up.

"Nigel...what is going on? What happened to Katherine?"

I looked down at Maxine and hesitated for a moment. "Katherine...is on fire."

She looked at me, feeling a bit confused. "What?"

"Katherine. She is literally on fire."

"How? I mean, I am glad. She desired to kill me. But...how did she get on fire?"

I played with the zipper on my jacket. "Uh..."

Should I tell her? Should I also tell her that Karla was on fire too?

The screams coming from the girls rang in my ears. There was no time to tell Maxine of these things. I had to wait until the fire was extinguished.

Until Karla - and possibly Katherine, even after she desired to kill my friend - were safe.

I ran to Katherine and Karla, but I made sure that I would not get too close to them. Otherwise, I could be seeing myself being on fire in the near future.

"Karla! Katherine!" I called, wanting their attentions.

Katherine sneered at me as she danced around. "It is your fault!" she said. "You caused the fire! I ought to burn you!"

"I am sorry," I apologized, trying my best to keep cool. "I had planned on using the fire on the match to scare you. That way, you would leave Maxine alone."

"Little fires do not scare me, boy!"

"Enough small talk! Just help us!" Karla ordered. "Get some water or blankets! Something to stop the fires from killing us!"

I glanced around the area. No water. No blankets. Nothing. I then facepalmed. There was probably water and plenty of blankets in the room. However, they were made of shadows.

And I could not see the shadowy objects because I was human.

What could I possibly do? There was nothing that I could use to my advantage...

...except...

...stop, drop, and roll. The technique to Stop, Drop, and Roll!

"I have it!" I exclaimed. "Watch me." I put my arms to the sides and put my legs together. I stood like a penguin. "Stop moving. The fire will only get worse if you do not."

"Stop moving?" Katherine repeated. "Are you serious right now?"

I nodded. "Trust me."

Karla stopped moving. "I trust you," she said.

"Next, drop to the floor." I got back down on the ground and lied down. "Do what I do."

Karla did as she was told and lied down. "I hope that this will work, Nigel."

"It will. I promise."

"This is a bunch of baloney!" Katherine snapped.

"Finally, roll around!" I rolled like a rolling pin that was flattening dough, and Karla did the same, and in a few minutes, the fire faded from her.

"It worked!" she exclaimed happily. "It is gone from me!" She went over to me and pulled me in a hug. "Thank you."

I smiled and hugged her back. "You are welcome." I looked at my surroundings. "Say, where is Katherine?" I felt something weird under my shoes. I moved my feet out of the way and saw a pile of ashes in front of me.

Karla glared at the ashes and sighed. "That is her. Gone forever."
