I jerked free from his grip. "No," I refused, trying to not stammer. A chill shot down my spine. "I am not going in that house."
His face saddened. "Oh..." He glanced at the house...
...and made a run for it.
"Suit yourself!" he exclaimed as he ran across the road and to the house.
"Hansel!" I snapped as I hurried after him. "Do not go to the house! It could be dangerous!"
"How? It is just a house."
"We are not taking any chances!"
Hansel ran up to the door and stopped. He placed a hand on the door and breathed hard, catching his breath.
I caught up to him and grasped his arm. "We need to go," I demanded. "Now."
"You are not the boss of me," Hansel said.
"No, but I am not the one who did not look both ways before running across the street. You could have been hurt! Or worse! Killed!"
"Relax. We are fine, are we not?"
All of a sudden, the door opened. Hansel fell on his stomach and groaned.
I peered through the doorway. It was dark. Pitch black. I could only see Hansel's legs. The rest of his body was in darkness.
"Ah!" a cry rang in my ears. It was my brother.
"Help! Help me!"
I sighed and grabbed ahold of his ankles. "You fell. That is it. You did not break any bones."
He ignored me and kept on yelling.
I raised an eyebrow. "Hansel?"
Then I gasped.
My brother, his whole body, was pulled into the darkness.
"Hansel!"
I then felt some force pushing me. I fell and landed in the darkness. I blew a strand of my hair away and got up.
And I watched in horror as the door was shut and locked.
Hansel and I were locked in.
But...by who?
