I did not stop screaming. I shielded my eyes and braced myself for the end of my time.

My death.

I could feel myself soaring higher and higher into the air, although, I was not actually flying.

If I had wings or was a superhero who could soar through the skies, then that would be my logical explanation.

But no.

"Damian," who turned out to be a Nerian, the leader of them, threw me.

Somewhere.

But to where?

Thud!

I landed on the hard ground and groaned. "Ow," I let out a moan as I rubbed my bottom. "I am going to feel that tomorrow."

If there were ever a tomorrow.

For me.

I placed my hands on the ground. The ground felt smooth.

And cold.

I shivered a little and slowly lifted my head, my eyes open. Greeting me was the color black. Darkness.

In every space. In every corner.

I looked down. Even the solid ground matched the blackness.

I stood up and looked all around.

Where the heck was I?

I tried staying calm. I wished that this was only a dream and nothing more...

Tap!

Huh? What was that?

Tap! Tap, tap, tap!

I clenched my teeth and wrapped my arms around me. I was not alone.

Someone was also here.

I started walking backwards, when I heard a crunching sound.

Crunch!

I jumped and looked to where it came from. I lifted my foot, and underneath it was a small box. I bent down and picked up the box. I brought it close to me, examining it.

It was a box that people put matches in.

Were there any matches inside?

I slid the box open. Yep. There were definitely matches. A whole bunch of them.

I then got an idea.

Being thirteen, I know that you are not supposed to play with matches. But I was not going to play.

I was going to experiment.

I took out a match from the box and moved the box a few inches away from me. I scratched the round end of the match against the red part of the box, the igniter, and a small amount of fire burst itself onto the match.

I held out the match - and my eyes widened when I realized that a shadow was right in front of me.
