Between Time (Pharaoh Atem X OCReader)

The Puzzle

Heading back home had been more relieving then usual. We hadn't found anything more at the site and the team decided to close up and head back for more research. I was the only one who knew..who had found anything.

It was good to be home. My house was quite large old English styled. Though only 24 I had managed well for myself. I had come across many ancient sites with my research and wrote a book. My family was quite known for being explores that helped me get opportunities though they were all passed now.
The house was quite big for me but.. I enjoyed the space and seclusion.

Finally setting my bags down at the door I took off my hat and let my long brown hair down. The A/C was the most refreshing. I flopped on the couch and grabbed the golden box from my bag.

As I opened it, it seemed to glow it was a strange reaction to the rooms light no doubt.

A puzzle? A puzzle of gold non the less. Strange. Though avid at puzzles this looked quiet complexed. I laid the puzzle out investigating each piece. Never seen such a thing. I managed to separate each piece in separate small piles.

I grew tired and decided to take a shower. As I took my shower I couldn't help but feel a presence. Something was different. The puzzle was calling to me.

I heard the door bell ring as I was brushing my hair out. I headed down in my bathroom hoping it was maybe just a mail person.

"Ah, Evelyn! How are you I'm so sorry about this"

It was just Emmett, a colleague of mine.

"Ah, yes Emmett come in please lt's just poor timing"

Emmett blushed I knew he had a thing for me back in school and I had no doubts he still did. I headed upstairs to get into a less revealing attire. Some sweats and a tee-shirt I was in no mood to dress up for him. I braided my hair back.

"I heard about the trouble you go into back in Egypt and wanted to see if you are okay"

Ah right. The shooting.

"Oh I am fine, just some thieves I ran into. Lucky that's all they got" I yelled down to him. I hadn't mentioned anything about Muhammad.

There was a scar it had healed up but..I was pretty insecure about the hole in my shoulder.

I came down the stairs to see Emmett had prepared me some tea and was carefully looking at the golden puzzle

"Where did you? What is this?"

Shit. I thought.

I came down and sit on the couch as he handed me my tea.

"Care to explain?" He smirked regardless he was a close and trusted friend.

"Truthfully, this is what I found...but I wish not to tell the others just yet"
I blew on my tea
"I'm still trying to work out what it might be"

Emmett pressed his lips together taking a sip of his tea
"Is this...of the nameless king?"

"Perhaps" I shrugged knowing very well it was..and that strange man dream I had.

Emmett shook his head "well I'm sure you'll figure it out you've obsessed over that king for what seems like ages" he joked.

Me and Emmett caught up for a small chat, he knew I was tired but he had always been a dear friend despite my thoughts. He headed out not long after with a hug and a kiss on the cheek.

It was dark out now, and I definitely decided to start working on the puzzle.

Piece by piece clank and frustration it began to assemble. Oh the complexity of this it seemed to be an amulet of some sort. The sun began to peak over before I realized I had almost completed it through the night.

I reached to the final piece Ra's eye. And placed it delicately in the center. It began to glow again. I rubbed my eyes as I couldn't believe it.

"You may have, one wish granted to they who hath becomes the soul"
I heard a voice say

A wish?

I paused

"I wish to know all about the nameless king" I spoke hypothetically that was my one true wish.

"As you wish"

I awoke on the couch holding the puzzle it was in the shape of an upside down pyramid. Beautiful. I checked my watch it was passed 2pm now.
Ugh I Was supposed to meet up with Emmett for lunch, he must of know I'd sleep through. I checked my phone 4 texts mostly crude humor from Emmett forgiving me, but saying I owed him for standing him up.

I rolled my eyes.

I looked down at the puzzle in my lap.  Before setting it on the coffee table. I best get up to the study and begin to write about this. I thought.
I grabbed the box, and puzzle. It was time to write out my research.
