The first time Beca called Aubrey was the next day after their very short conversation.
"When you said she'll get married with someone else, then that implied she'll fall out of love with me anyways."
"You are an absolute idiot still, and its fucking three in the morning, sleep Beca for fuck's sake."
Then she hang up.

The next time she called was the afternoon after the first phone call.
"Okay... So what exactly do you want me to do?"
"I've told you more than enough, you have to stop depending on people to help you figure out what you have to do... I have a meeting as of the moment so goodbye."
------------------
Aubrey was on a coffee break when Beca called again. She pulled an all nighter after a new case was handed to her and couldn't keep herself from working too late.
Perks of being single? No one's waiting for you at home.
"In hell's name Beca, I swear, if you ask another stupid question-" Aubrey was cut off.
"Would you meet me tomorrow for coffee?"
The air was thick on the other line, it sounded like Beca was at the top of a roof. The wind was blowing too hard, Aubrey could feel the cold despite not being there.
"For old times sake,"Beca sniffed on the other line, a sigh erupting from her lips as she looked at the city below, all bright and lit with color,"I missed you, apparently."
Aubrey set her cup down, staring intently at her own table, her nail tapping on the wooden surface in a fast rhythm. She felt a small smile tug at the ends of her lips and before she knew it, she was replying with the same sentiment.
"I miss you too, dude."
Beca was like her little sister too, and she cared for the girl very much. When she arrived in New York a few days after she learned that Chloe was there with her niece, the blonde was surprised to find out that Beca was living with them too.
Chloe talked about everything that happened while they were at the park. Smiling when she felt considerably happy about a memory and frowning when she was reminded of something she didn't like.
Aubrey remembered how she felt that day; relieve because Beca's safe and still alive, sympathy at finding out that Beca had been alone for almost 5 years with no one familiar around.
Yesterday's conversation with Beca was brief, stiff and a closed one, both of them still uncomfortable letting their feelings out wholeheartedly.
"When and where tomorrow?" Aubrey asked, taking a seat on her office chair.
"There's this diner just a couple of blocks north of the apartment called Isle's Diner... Lunch would be fine since Chloe would be home around that time." Beca informed.
Aubrey, in spite of the fact that Beca can't see her do it, nodded softly,"Okay," She picked up a pen and wrote the info on a piece of paper,"See you, midget."
"Stop calling me that." Huffed Beca from the other line.
"Engraved in my soul, darling, good night." Before Beca could even reply, Aubrey had already hung up.
