Feet bouncing in unchecked nervousness, Beca stared out the window of Isle's diner.
The diner was particularly busy today and Beca was thankful about it. She didn't want to talk to anyone at the moment because she was giddy and restless and couldn't handle more stress by trying to help people catch up on what's going in with her life.
After briefly greeting Maura and Jane and informing then of meeting ther with Aubrey, a childhood friend, Beca took a seat at a booth by the window, hands clasped together, fidgeting over and over, eyes constantly racking over other patrons of the diner.
She didn't mind that Aubrey was late, she was fine being left alone with her thoughts. Totally.
Bullshit.Beca hated being left alone with her thoughts. She can't stop thinking about her date with Chloe and how its going to be disastrous and the redhead would regret even thinking of asking her our. What if her clothes weren't attractive? Has she gain? Do I smell? With all the subtlety she could muster, she smelled herself and thought that her smell was decent enough, but made a mental note to get herself a perfume later.
Chloe hadn't told her what they were going to do, but did tell her to wear something confortable. The brunette expected more information, but Chloe wouldn't say anything more.
From the counter, Jane watched her step-daughter closely without breaking eye contact, her wife tending to the cash register as she just leaned against the bar counter behind her.
"Stop that, Jane." Maura warned her wife, but Jane just grumbled.
"We don't see her for months and I'm not watching her?" Jane crossed her arms,"Absolutely not a great idea."
"She's gonna come around on her own, stop meddling and come help me." Maura pushed her wife to the cash register to replace her on the post, ignoring her wife's huff and annoyed glare.
Taking the pot of hot tea, Maura approached Beca's table and watched as another woman, in office clothing and a stiff posture come into the diner and walk straight towards Beca.
The brunette looked up and was surprised to see her mother and Aubrey arrive at the table at the same time. Standing up to acknowledge Aubrey, Beca looked uncertain as her gaze went back and forth with the two.
Taking care of the situation, Maura set down the cup she brought and poured some tea on it while Beca followed Aubrey's lead to sit back down on their seats.
"Can I get you dears anything?" Maura asked, looking at Beca then Aubrey.
The blonde lawyer looked up at Maura and requested for a coffee and some scones.
When Maura turned to Beca, the brunette barely smiled,"Do Jane still make those awesome cheesecake?"
Maura smiled at that and winked at the girl,"I'll be right back."
Aubrey watched the woman walk away before turning to find Beca watching as well, it made the blonde quirk a curious brow at Beca's fond look.
"You know her?" Asked the lawyer, taking a peak on Beca's cup of tea.
Humming in answer, Beca turned to Aubrey,"She brought me in... Her and her wife,"Nodding her head at the register, Aubrey found a brunette woman who was constantly glancing at their table.
"Brought you in?"
"I had nothing when I came to New York... I,"Beca trailed, looking at the cup and scratching her temple as she contemplated telling Aubrey,"I was homeless and they found me... Offered me a job here and let me stay at their home."
