Chapter 27

While it was no longer a secret between the two of them that the relationship was progressing to something more intimate, Beca still seems shy when it comes to Chloe showing her some affection.

The redhead told her a particular event that made Chloe realize that for the last couple of weeks since they began dating, Chloe always initiates the affection and Beca always lies in the receiving end.

"I'm sorry." Beca cringe as she realized that it was in fact the truth.

Chloe would always kiss her goodbye when she leaves for work, kiss her hello when they meet for lunch, kiss Beca thank you for picking Sophie from school, a kiss goodnight when they're about to sleep, hugging her when Beca decides to cook, holding her hand while they ate. And those kisses weren't even kisses on the lips, they were mostly kiss on the cheek and the foreheads.

"No... It's okay," Chloe chuckled and reached for the remote to pause the movie they were watching, checking over her shoulder that Sophie was asleep before turning back to Beca,"I know that you're not the type to initiate affection until you're fully comfortable with everything."

Beca stared at Chloe for a moment, her eyes looking for something behind Chloe's own orbs. She thought she'd see doubt or hurt, but all she saw was pure sincerity, something she wouldn't expect from any other lover other than Chloe and Isabelle.

"And I just like kissing you on the forehead because you get this cute little pout and this little frown on your forehead that just... Makes me," Chloe squealed and pinched Beca's cheek before squeezing her face, making Beca have the exact face Chloe just describe,"That face!" She giggled and proceeded to peck Beca on the side of her mouth, then picked the remote and unpaused the movie with a cute grin on her face.

"How do you know me so well?"

"Because you're not exactly a difficult puzzle piece to solve," Chloe turned back to look at her,"You're like... Well, you're like an open book, you reveal yourself to me like it's as easy as talking." They completely forgot about the movie now,"When you're upset, you're just quiet all night and have this kind of rage around your eyes," Lifting a finger, Chloe begun to trace along the corners of Beca's left eye,"Then when you're happy, the corners crinkle so naturally that they don't make a difference on your skin, and your smile's softer but a little bit brighter from when you're faking it," Her voice was soft.

Beca released a shuddering breath as she watched their proximity begin to disappear, Chloe unconsciously leaning closer as she spoke.

"And when you laugh, when you truly laugh, you have this kind of snort at the end of every laughter and you'd frown at yourself after that," Chloe giggled as Beca gave her a deadpanned look,"Then, when you're frustrated or nervous, you have this very handy pen that you click away until you're calm enough, you don't lash out on the people around you, you lash it out on the pen."

"Stop..." That was a quiet croak, so Beca repeated herself,"Stop."

Chloe stopped tracing Beca's face after she heard Beca's strained interference and looked at her guiltily, worried that she might've gone too far.

"I'm sorry, I—" Chloe's apology was interjected by Beca's lips.

The kiss wasn't life changing, they've kissed before, but God Chloe melted on that kissed, their lips were so good together. Beca softly sighed into the kiss after Chloe reciprocated a moment later, their eyes closing as they relished all of their senses to how good it felt to kiss each other.

Beca's lips tasted like the cheap wine they bought earlier that day, mixed with the exported cheese the neighbor from a floor below theirs gave as a farewell gift. Beca's lips felt like soft velvet, and slipped with hers like it was covered by that scented oil they had in the bathroom.

Beca loved Chloe's lips. It wasn't like how she remembered it, the experience was better than just the memory of how they felt and how they tasted.

Chloe's lips tasted like mint, Beca realized she was chewing on that gum Sophie handed her earlier before the movie started, and despite the fact that she hated mint, Beca loved it on Chloe, she love how Chloe smelled like lavender and how her lips felt like a fluffy pancakes in the morning.

They both love most of all, how they seem to just want to pull each other closer, to engrave each other together, but it was physically impossible, so they settled for what they got. Beca felt her legs being straddled by Chloe, her back now hitting the back of the couch as the redhead got on her, hands slipping around her neck and combing through her dark tresses, pulling her head back to deepen the kiss.

Beca doesn't know what her hands were doing, one minute they were on Chloe's back and the next she finds them on Chloe's ass, squeezing a cheek as Chloe softly groaned on her neck.

"God." Chloe softly shuddered as they pulled back from each other, eyes hooded and irises dark with lust.

"We're not supposed to be doing this with a child just a feet away." Beca eyed Sophie's sleeping form.

"We're fully clothed, dumbass."

"Wow."

"Yeah wow." Chloe smirked as she leaned in again to peck Beca's lips, then did it again, as it one was enough.

"I meant wow like... I'm offended." Beca retorted between the soft but gleeful pecks from Chloe.

"I love you." Chloe stated, not even giving a damn to shoot a sarcastic reply.

Beca stared at her again, just stared at her. Then she raised her hand and combed a lock of hair behind Chloe's ear as the redhead looked at her lovingly, not even expecting the same reply.

"I know."

The redhead gulped but smiled behind the slight hurt in her chest, she leaned in closer and lingered a soft kiss on Beca's lips before she pulled back and brought Beca to a gentle embrace, not feeling like losing the intimacy just yet.

She'd wait.

She'll always wait.
