Peaking an eye open, Beca realized that she fell asleep halfway on the couch, her lower half almost on the floor as she slumbered through what's left of the previews night.
After her date with Chloe, that ended with the redhead winning Beca a stuffed bear at a carnival they decided to crash, the two decided it was too late to get Sophie from Aubrey's place.
Sitting up, Beca looked around the quiet apartment and sighed.
Every morning since Sophie was enrolled to a kindergarten just a block away, Beca always woke up alone in the apartment, with Chloe going to work early and Sophie going with her mom on the way.
Grunting, Beca walked to the kitchen and immediately noticed how there wasn't breakfast nor coffee ready for when she wakes up. Through the weeks they've been under one roof, and in spite of Beca's insistance, Chloe always left a plate of food for the brunette and a cup of coffee in the coffee maker for when Beca gets up in the morning.
Noticing this, Beca realized that she had slept through all the noise Chloe usually makes in the morning.
A worried frown knitted on her forehead and before she knew it, her feet had lead her to Chloe's room, and sure enough, a shivering redhead laid over the covers in a fetal position as cold sweat soaked the bed sheets.
"Jesus, Chlo."
Quickly kneeling beside the redhead on her bed, Beca placed her palm on Chloe's forehead but then pulling it away, palm wet and warm from Chloe's burning temperature, the brunette briskly stood up and left the room, returning a minute later with a wet towel and a glass of water.
"Sit up, baby..." Beca told the redhead who barely opened her eyes with a breathy giggle.
"Mhmm, baby..." She barely mumbled with a drowsy smile, poking Beca's cheek weakly when Beca blushed as she helped her up.
"Drink, smarty-pants." She watched as Chloe did as told and proceeded to take off the redhead's wet shirt, fetching her a long sleeve shirt in exchange.
"I'm gonna call your boss and excuse you for at least four days..." Beca told her, brushing the hair that was sticking on Chloe's forehead to the side.
"No, no..." Beca watched her shake her head,"I can walk -- work," She begun to move off the bed, making Beca alarmed,"No, no, I'm fine... No, no, no, I'm alright, I'm fine."
"Chloe... You're repeating everything you're saying," Beca grumbled,"You look pale and more likely to topple over yourself."
When she almost reached the door, Chloe turned back to Beca and muttered,"Yeah - I think you might have to catch me."
Beca quickly took her back to her bed where Chloe gave out a sogh of relief,"We stayed too late out in the cold last night... Chlo."
"Mmm?" The redhead hummed in response, eyes already close and breathing ragged.
"I'm gonna go and get you something at the pharmacy... Sweetie?" Beca watched as Chloe's eyes begun to look alarmed at this statement, and the immediate grip on Beca's arm kept her still.
"Please don't leave..." Chloe whimpered, eyes glistening.
Beca looked at her with clear worry, she knew being sick made people vulnerable and Beca understood this.
"I gotta get Sophie though, sweetie," The brunette surprised herself by leaning down to kiss the redhead's forehead softly.
Chloe looked at her for a moment before she blinked and caved in by letting Beca's hand go. Beca placed the towel back on Chloe's forehead and stood up, second-guessing on leaving Chloe even just for a moment.
